How to Save Money at UrgentVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our experience with Urgent Vet in Lake Mary was great from start to finish. They were so wonderful with our senior Pitbull. I really appreciated the patient, intuitive and professional care our girl received. They really took their time to ensure that she and we were comfortable with every step of our visit. The facility is Immaculate and I noticed how attentive to infection control protocols the staff was. Every charge involved was explained before hand and given in writing. I would highly recommend Urgent Vet in Lake Mary.

I came in on Saturday with my fur baby, Coconut, who has oral cancer and was in a lot of pain—so much that he couldn’t eat. I explained to Dr. Davidson that he had an appointment with an oncologist on Monday and asked if she could help him get through the weekend. She did exactly that, providing pain relief and also an antibiotic for a mouth infection. She and the vet tech were so kind and compassionate. I’m incredibly grateful and will definitely return if I ever have another urgent situation with one of my pets. Bobbie C . and Coconut Let me know if you’d like it to sound more casual, formal, emotional, or direct.

Meet Milo, the biggest baby with huge anxiety. Especially when we go to the vet… Yesterday we had to take him due to an injured paw and horrific crying he started doing. I was extremely panicked and nervous because of his anxiety and it gets worse with vets but also, I’ve never heard him in so much pain. The second we walked in we were greeted by Andrea, she quickly got us in a room and did not have to wait outside in the lobby. Andrea, is by far one of the best veterinarian technicians I’ve ever met. Milo (doggy) who normally will sit in my lap and make me hold him down was never once trying to escape. He was nervous at first but the second Andrea started loving and talking to him, Milo immediately wanted to be next to her the whole time. 6 years of going to the vet and he has never once took treats, except from Andrea! Her compassion and love for animals is something special that is rare to find! My fur baby was completely comfortable the whole time! Dr.Davidson, absolutely incredible! Not pushy, took her time, explained what she thought was wrong and our options. We didn’t need to do X-rays but I wanted to just to rule out everything. Normally I feel veterinarians try to push unnecessary procedures but not here. Yes it was a little pricey but also I knew it was going to be since it was after hours (what do you expect? I knew I wanted I full work up). Everything was up to me on what I wanted to do though and not once was pushed. She explained how she thought he sprained it possibly and it wouldn’t show up on X-rays, but if I wanted to be safe they would do X-rays. Milo also LOVED her! Everytime she walked in he was giving her kisses and his tail was wagging like no tomorrow! To the other technicians (I don’t have the names but you know who you are❤️) THANK YOU AS WELL! Milo again is not a dog to be so loving to people and running up to them at vets. When it was time for X-rays he ran in the back and was saying hello and loving on everyone! During the X-rays he also didn’t need to be sedated and was absolutely perfect for them! Normally I have to sedate him with medications and they have to hold him down anytime I take him to the vet, not here!!!! I’m absolutely stunned and so grateful for everyone who works here and helped my fur baby yesterday! If you are someone reading this trying to find somewhere quick and amazing for your baby, GO HERE!!! My only complaint is that they are only an urgent care and not a normal doctors for my baby. My heart is so full knowing if anything ever happens suddenly I can take him here. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Wonderful service and people! I brought my sick senior kitty after work as all the vets were closed and I didn't want to just take her to an ER. They took us in right away. Muffin was very comfortable for not feeling well and got some treatments to make her feel better. The vet tech is very transparent with costs up front and the costs are reasonable. I wish I remembered her name! Anyways, they also explain everything very well, so you know what to expect. I will definitely be back with both my kitties!!!

This was our first time visiting and only a few minutes down the road. The team that worked with us, Andrea and Dr. Jones were so caring and compassionate towards us and our little shih tzu. You could tell their love for animals runs high. They checked in the following day as we had to bring our little guy to the University of Florida for more extensive care. I highly recommend Urgent Vet, Lake Mary, Florida.
