I have been to Advanced Veterinary Care Center many times since 2021 for my dogs’ oncology care, surgeries, and emergency visits. There aren’t enough words to describe how grateful I am to have Dr. Piscoya, Director of the Cancer Center at AVCC, as our oncologist for three dogs. She is the most compassionate and caring oncologist I’ve ever met (I had veterinary oncologists in another state prior to moving to FL). She is always thorough in explaining the situation, answering my seemingly endless number of questions, and providing me with treatment options for our dogs. In addition, Dr. Piscoya is Fear Free Certified, and having one dog who was terrified of going to the vet, I can attest that Dr. Piscoya and her team of wonderful oncology nurses won him over and in time, he was no longer scared during his visits. The oncology nursing team is amazing! Kim leads the nursing team and she is a gem, always giving my dogs attention and using her upbeat personality to make our visits for an unpleasant situation with our dogs seems less sad and scary. Ana Victoria and Brandy are also amazing and although I don’t see them as much as Kim, I know our dogs are in great hands with them during their time at The Cancer Center at AVCC. I can’t thank Dr. Piscoya enough for her expertise and help over the years with our three dogs. In my opinion, she is simply the best!!! 🌟 I have also used the surgical department to have several masses removed from our dogs and Dr. A. was a pleasure to work with. Sadly, some of the masses she removed from my dogs were cancerous, so it was convenient to then move to the oncology department without changing vet practices. Finally, I have used the emergency department several times for our dogs, including once on Christmas Eve into Christmas morning several years ago. Dr. Mason was working that evening and she was wonderful in helping diagnose my dog’s issue. I also met and was pleased with the care provided by Dr. Grimaldi and Dr. Rothstein on separate occasions over the years. The front desk team are always friendly and efficient. Thanks to all the doctors and team members for your compassion and support over the years. We are forever grateful and you are all appreciated!

From the moment I walked in there , it felt like we had the undivided and very professional attention of the front desk staff. Then I was approached by a very pleasant and charming, young lady that made me and Thunder feel like we were in good hands . Her kindness and patience and knowledge of her job was impressive. But what really put the icing on the cake was the attending veterinarian that came to see my boy thunder. It was immediately clear to me that she was a no nonsense, confident Doctor, that had thunders best interests at hand , from her bedside manners to her diagnosis to her patient treatment , she never missed a beat . My sincere gratitude to all the staff . Keep up the awesome work!

Our dog Eli was seen here during a medical crisis, and the experience was extremely difficult for our family. We were repeatedly told that Eli was non‑ambulatory and unable to stand, yet the neurologist at SEVN documented that he was walking with mild incoordination and had normal reflexes. Hearing one thing from the hospital and then seeing the opposite documented by a specialist was heartbreaking and confusing. We were also not told that Eli had been given mannitol until after we returned from the neurologist, who did not believe Eli had a brain tumor. Only then did the hospital tell us they had administered mannitol and suggested that it “changed” how the neurologist saw him. This was never explained beforehand, and the timing of that explanation left us feeling misled. We later learned that mannitol is generally used in specific neurological situations and can carry risks for dogs with significant heart disease, which made the lack of disclosure even more concerning. A second dose was given right before discharge, with no monitoring afterward and no mention of it in any specialty notes. Eli declined shortly after we brought him home. We loved Eli deeply, and we trusted this hospital with his care. The inconsistencies between what we were told and what the specialists documented made an already devastating situation even harder. I’m sharing our experience so other pet owners can make informed decisions. I would give no stars. No longer waiting for us inside window please check out any place you trust with loved ones.

When it comes to emergency and specialty care, a few things matter immediately. Here is what stood out most to me about Advanced Veterinary Care Center: • Pricing: Shockingly reasonable for a large specialty hospital. With the level of expertise, equipment, and staffing they have, you would expect extremely high prices, but their pricing is actually very fair. • Wait times: Practically nonexistent. Even when the hospital was packed, a triage team came within minutes to evaluate my dog and begin care. When you arrive scared and emotional, that kind of responsiveness makes an enormous difference. • Communication: Excellent and incredibly easy. Someone always answers the phone and gets you through to whoever you need, whether it’s a doctor or nurse. You can also text them and they respond quickly with updates, pictures, and answers. Even billing is simple. They email a DocuSign and you just sign and send it back. They’ve made the entire process seamless. • Compassion and care: This is a highly skilled specialty hospital that somehow still manages to feel incredibly personal and supportive. When I arrived with my dog Pal, I was completely terrified and crying. My primary veterinarian, Pet Express Animal Hospital, recommended Advanced, and it was one of the best recommendations I have ever received. I was initially nervous because large hospitals can feel impersonal. But that was absolutely not the case here. They have the expertise, technology, and staffing of a major specialty hospital, yet every interaction felt kind, compassionate, and personal. Every time I called for an update, someone spoke with me right away. If I needed to talk to a doctor or nurse, they made it happen. Often they called me first to give updates, and they would send pictures of Pal while he was hospitalized so I could see he was okay. For someone who prefers texting, that option was also available, and I always received quick responses. One thing the doctors told me that really stuck with me is that in situations like this they have two patients: the animal and the parent. They understand that the pet needs medical care, but the owner is also scared and overwhelmed. They truly lived up to that philosophy. They constantly checked on me and made sure I felt informed and supported while giving Pal the expert care he needed. Another thing that meant a lot to me was that they allowed visitation. If I needed to come in and see Pal, I was able to. Sometimes I just needed to look at him for a moment for my own peace of mind. I was never turned away or made to feel like I was bothering them. That level of understanding and flexibility meant the world during such a stressful time. I also want to recognize Joyce from management. You would never know she is the office manager because she is so kind, approachable, and genuinely caring. That level of involvement from leadership says a lot about the culture of this hospital. The doctors themselves are incredibly skilled. When Pal first arrived they told me honestly they weren’t sure he would make it. But the team collaborated together on his case and worked through an extremely complicated situation. A week and a half later, he was recovering and doing well. What stood out most is that Pal never felt like “just another patient.” If he cried, someone checked on him. He received attention, comfort, and genuine care in addition to excellent medicine. If you ever need emergency or specialty care for your pet, I cannot recommend Advanced Veterinary Care Center enough. When something serious happens, you want a team you can trust completely. They saved my dog’s life, and I will always be grateful!

My kitten didn’t make it and passed away just minutes after arriving, but everyone at the clinic was incredibly kind, accommodating, and caring during such a difficult time. Dr. Katherine Zamudio, in particular, was compassionate and patient, she took the time to explain everything and truly went above and beyond. Because of the level of care and empathy we received, I felt compelled to write this review. This clinic is for specialty and emergency care only; otherwise, I would switch to Dr. Zamudio as our regular vet without hesitation. I hope your pets never have to come here but if they do you are in good care.
