How to Save Money at Animals Only

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We found Animals Only through our vet Dr Hayes. Our dog TimTam had to have major femur surgery and was going to need at least 3 months of physical therapy. Dr Schuda and her entire team have been amazing! We have seen a big difference in Timtam’s recovery. He loves going and doing hydrotherapy, gym, shockwave, massage, and acupuncture! Dr Schuda and Dr Gardner are his favorite people, followed closely by the entire team. Izzy, Yesenia, Liz, everyone is amazing! They will care for your pet like it was their own. The facility is great and they explain every procedure. The parking lot is easy to use and it is right off the 15. They will work closely with your vet and surgeon. We cannot recommend them enough. TimTam looks forward to coming every time!

Amazing pet rehab clinic! The staff here is so friendly and kind, and my dog literally can’t wait to jump out of the car for his treatments—something I never thought I’d say about a vet office! After five leg surgeries in just three years, we were running out of hope. Dr. Schuda changed everything. She’s patient, compassionate, and always mindful of both time and financial constraints. She comes up with creative rehab plans that truly work for you and your dog. Thanks to Animals Only, our pup made incredible progress. We thought amputation might be the only option, or that he’d never bear weight on his leg again. Now he walks great, runs, even sneaks in a jump (though we’re careful!)—and most importantly, he’s happy, energetic, and smiling again. I honestly don’t know what we would have done without the amazing team at Animals Only. So grateful—thank you for giving Reed his joy back!

Whether you're looking to help your furry friend (cats and dogs!) recover from an injury, surgery, or age-related complications, Animals Only is the place to go. They're a lovely family-owned facility that is truly a gem in the animal-loving community. No referrals needed and it's in a great location literally right off the I-15 freeway with a pet relief area right out front. Every single team member we've met, from the front desk to treatment room, is amazing to talk with and see work in action, especially with reactive pets. Everything they say and do is done with the utmost love, care, and intention. They also have amazing synergy together with their empathetic, animal-loving personalities and diverse backgrounds in veterinary medicine. You can tell just by being in their presence how much they care about your fur baby's wellbeing and success because they always go the extra mile. The AO team makes it SO easy to give my hearing- and vision-impaired boy, Meaty, the help he needs to become his strongest self again at a pace and price that fits our needs, all without judgement. Before starting his program, he had tons of difficulty standing up and walking even for 5 minutes, if that. But with Dr. Schuda's help, who is SO knowledgeable, patient and thoughtful, we were able to curate a personalized treatment plan for Meaty (a mix of: hydro- and laser therapies, gym, at-home exercises, and soon, acupuncture). He is doing remarkably better after just a few weeks (e.g. he can walk for 15-20 minutes at a time now) and has become louder and more excited to go see his AO friends with every visit! Really! He screams in the car, which he's never done before! So if you're looking for a facility to help your furry family member improve and receive some extra love as a bonus, there's no place I would recommend more than Animals Only.

We brought our dog Leo, who has elbow dysplasia, to physical therapy hoping to alleviate his limp. At just 14 months old, he was experiencing significant inflammation and wasn’t walking as well as he should. Initially, he underwent weekly stim therapy and hydrotherapy (water treadmill), and we started noticing positive changes within just two weeks! I admit I was skeptical about the effectiveness of physical therapy, but I was pleasantly surprised. The doctors and technicians at Animals Only are exceptional; they truly understand how to work with dogs. Leo was quite skittish and fearful at first, but the staff was incredibly patient, giving him the space he needed while gently helping him overcome his anxiety about the treatments. Now, he actually seems to enjoy hydrotherapy, which has been a joy to witness. We highly recommend Animals Only to anyone seeking physical therapy for their dogs. Their expertise and compassionate care have made a significant difference in Leo's life!

As a veterinary professional I am beyond pleased with the level of care provided here. My corgi can be a bit reactive but they have treated her so well and she has done marvelous. Yes it’s expensive but you’re paying for their expertise, specialized equipment and focused time on your baby. Nothing feels rushed or careless.
