How to Save Money at All Day Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr.Mayor and his team are phenomenal. I switched over to them from La Jolla Vet Hospital and I have never been happier with a vet. I have brought all 7 of my cats in and they are always taken care of so well. Dr. Mayor has a gentle touch and is very knowledgeable, he personally has saved 3 of my cats. His team is above and beyond, always checking on you- even after your appointment. They truly care about pets here and I would not trust anybody else with my pets. AMAZING PRICES and even better appointment availability. Do yourself a favor and switch over to Dr.Mayor, your bank account and pets will thank you.

I called yesterday 9/8/23 around 5:30 pm a little panicked about my cat. She was sick, wasn’t eating, very lethargic, and throwing up. I asked if they would take her as a walk-in and they told me they absolutely would and to come on in. When I got there, the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We were put into a room almost immediately and seen after about 5-10 minutes by the vet tech and Dr. Bayon who were both very nice and caring. They took my cat back gave her some fluids, and some medication and sent me home with some medication for her. After about 12 hours she’s back to her normal playful self and is feeling a whole lot better. I couldn’t recommend a vet clinic more for their professionalism, customer service and carefulness with Abby. Thank you to the staff and Dr. Bayon for taking such good care of her on short notice!

We moved here back in February and was recommended this vet. Everything was fine and we had a great experience until my cat started having urination issues. They said he had blood in his urine and gave an antibiotic. Didn't explain why this was happening and i had to call everyday for 2 days to have them say the doctor is busy and he will call back. Never did. Finally on the 3rd day another doctor who didn't look at my cat called and said it was caused by stress. During the initial exam the vet said he didn't have a full bladder, but was able to get a urine sample no problem. A week goes by and we notice he isn't acting himself. Not eating, throwing up, lying around. That's when I noticed his stomach felt tender and he was in pain. Took him to an urgent vet and they diagnosed him with a urinary blockage. Which means he could not pee and it was life threatening. We paid the very expensive vet bill and was told to have him hospitalized at a 24hr vet. He needed care for 2-3 days which we were quoted $1000 just for 15 hours of treatment. After paying the other vet there was no way we could afford all of them. We applied for programs but were denied. The hospital wouldn't see him unless we paid and therefore we had to bring him home where he got blocked again. Our only option was to surrender him to the human society so they can treat him there. It was either that, or watch him die. We are devastated and I do feel like if All Day Pet hospital would have looked further and put more care into looking at what was wrong we could have prevented the blockage and he would be home with us. My family is devastated at losing our family cat.

I can not express my gratitude enough to these doctors and the staff at All Day. They literally saved my dog's life and saved me thousands of dollars! I adopted a dog from the God awful Riverside County Shelter. They botched her spay job and she was on death's door! All Day got me in right away and did surgery to save to her life. She was full of pus and infection along with blood clots from improper surgical protocol. They kept her in hospital for 2 and half days and updated me often with texts, calls and pictures. The staff at the front are super friendly and techs are very nice. The doctors have blown my mind with how compassionate they are. There prices in comparison with other general practices are very affordable. They also do not push unnecessary testing or treatments. I also worked for many years, up until 2021, as a veterinary receptionist for another clinic so I am familiar with pricing and customer service in this field. These doctors also saved my friend's cat who had an intussusception. VCA ASG wanted over 10 grand to do the surgery and no other general practice that they called would take on the case...expect All Day. My friend was in hysterics at the thought of losing her sweet kitty. Not only did they save her kitty's life, they saved my friend thousands of dollars. My sweet dog Molly and her kitty Prince are alive today because of the doctors and staff at All Day. There is no way for me to ever thank them enough.
