How to Save on Veterinary Costs at West Kootenay Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We have been clients of West Kootenay Animal since April of 2023, our puppy Tobi and our kitty Pablo have always received more than 5 star care from the entire team! Everyone is always so kind and patient with our sometimes nervous dachshund puppy, they are very good with him and have helped us socialize him to various things during visits. I highly recommend this office for anyone in the area, especially those with nervous pets that don’t particularly love vet trips.

Updated: April 2024 Still excellent in every way! All the vets and staff are friendly and professional. Consistently 5 stars (End update) We have been clients of West Kootenay Animal Hospital since 2016 and our Wirehaired Pointing Griffon has received 5 star care at each and every visit. Over the years he has been through a few rough spots and treatments are not always pleasant, but his little brain just knows that he is receiving the best care, and that the doctors and staff are loving and sincere. Dexter is happy and continues to wag his tail when he visits West Kootenay Animal Hospital. They turn on the "spotlights" to get a correct diagnosis without recommending unnecessary treatment.

I have used these guys since my dog was just a wee puppy. They have always been fantastic and responsive. We had to put our beautiful angel to rest just after New Year's and Dr. Chris made one of the worst days of our lives easier and with the utmost compassion. We are extremely grateful for the entire team. Thank you so much ❤️
