How to Save Money at Clearwater Vet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This place is incredible. I've never felt so at peace taking my dog and cat to the vet. Every staff member is exceptional and they all show empathy tomthe animals. The pricing is way better than the big cities. Even if you aren't from Rocky it's worth the drive to get your pets to have this level of care and attention.

I’ll start by saying this is only my second ever 1 star review - ever. I understand that working in the service industry is taxing and I have a lot of respect for frontline service providers. Anything I’ve communicated in their post has already be directly communicated to the staff member that I spoke with today. I was told they would need a couple weeks for the owner to get back to me. Hopefully they do. Great experience with the vet Sarah in terms of care and compassion. Prices are what brought us here compared to other clinics in our area. No complaints about actual vet care. We booked our 14 year old senior cat for an initial visit (blood work/urine analysis were determined to be best course of action), in Feb 2024. I was informed by the staff that the tech could not get the urine sample but offered that I could pay for blood work (which was drawn) and for the urine analysis to come back at a later time. (Even though this meant I would need to drive back again (I’m 45 minutes away) I did not complain and trusted they made their best effort). At NO point was it discussed with the vet or staff, on the phone or in person, that once we paid we needed to bring our cat back within 7 days (and if we didn’t we would lose our payment)… hence todays review. It was communicated that I could not drop in during business hours (which I respect) as they are quite busy and would need to insure an appt was available. In June I spoke with reception and it proved to be very busy and difficult to get back in. I explained to receptionist that I work in sylvan lake and would try to come on my work day between my own appointments, but that I was not sure if I could make it in on Tues-Thurs, but I would do my best. any other times I offered to come they did not have a lab tech available. It proved difficult as the 2 hour window I had on my work day did not allow me time to get there on time and back to my own place of work, and get my pet home safely. It is now August 5th. I called to schedule a time and was told that I had to bring my cat back within the 7 days of her appt and because I didn’t it would be the full fee. I expressed to the staff member that at no point in accessing care for my cat was this boundary around a time limit expressed about when I needed to bring my cat back in. Otherwise because I live out of town I would have opted to just pay for the urine analysis at another time. I do take full ownership that it is 5.5 months later. I also expressed I obviously would not be calling to book this if I were ever informed. 🤦♀️ The staff member I spoke to today I had never dealt with prior. She really struggled to understand that informing patients of service fees and requirements at the time of payment is the duty and responsibility of the service provider. She told me she was very familiar with my case (again never spoke to her before) as her colleague asked her about booking in June. It is unfortunate as pricing and vet services are great. But it does not sit well with me to pay for a service and the terms of that not be explained at the time of payment. And they actually rent their lab equipment so it’s not like it’s a third party lab is charging them to process at a later time? I did have a phone call with the vet 2 days after (February). There was no expressed urgency for the urine as the blood work confirmed an infection and I followed through with antibiotics. And rest assured since that initial appt with them in February My cat is under the care of my local vet (my reasoning for travel was to help lessen fees for services. But once they couldn’t draw the urine I found it too difficult scheduling wise to have to travel back for it… and That definitely bit me in the behind 😜) Also beware that charting practices such as saying a patient was informed when they were not is again just bad practice. I also will not name the staff member I spoke to today but will say being able to trust when a client says “I’ve never been informed” and then responding appropriately with respect is really all that was needed today.
