How to Save Money at The Greater Good Low Cost Spay, Neuter, & Vaccinations - Now Texas Litter Control

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I came today to get my three dogs vaccinated for the first time. I came at a great time as there was not really others there present. As soon as I pulled up, Ms. Victoria came out with such a friendly demeanor and assisted my pups and I. Ms. Victoria is extremely efficient, kind, and professional. Ms. Mary Pat is like an angel offering to hold and spoil my dogs, as well as helping other customers after my arrival. They are a breath of fresh air. Ms. Laura (I did not really interact with) helped with heart-worm testing for my dogs. It is evident she is a great team player and assisted other customers promptly. Great service, low cost vaccinations, and low wait times. It’ll be great to see other places institute such great service at such great value. Much thanks to Dr. Kuehl for helping to bring along these excellent ladies and offering this type of service!

My cat and I had three visits with them, her very first vaccinations, booster and the spay surgery. I can say this place is amazing💖 All the staff I met are super friendly and patient. Although they provide CURB SIDE SERVICE ONLY so I never actually see the treating process, bu my cat never had any negative reactions mentally or physically after the visit, so I believe the doctor definitely took good care of my cat. For the cat spay surgery: they give clear pre and post surgery instructions and it’s very sweet for them to put a little towel and some foods in the carrier (my cat finished the food on our way back😂)They will give you a number to call for emergency after surgery which makes me feel super relief.☺️The surgery wound looks clean and tidy. The $95 worth every penny. But it’s a little hard to schedule so better do IN ADVANCE. I want to say thank you for opening on both Saturday and Sunday, that’s a very big support for us.

This office is heaven sent and their staff are literal angels!! I recently rescued a tiny kitten who was lying in the middle of the road and about to get ran over by oncoming traffic. While I was determined to help her, I quickly realized how overwhelming it can be. I called multiple organizations and “rescues” that constantly ask for donations and claim to help animals in need, but every single one told me they were full and couldn’t assist. Even refused to take her because she's too young (4-5 weeks old), despite me informing them about my lack of confidence in care and a cat allergy. It was very disheartening and frustrating because when you’re in the moment of need, those promises often feel empty. But then I found this veterinary clinic, and it was truly a blessing. From the very first call, the staff treated me with kindness, patience, and compassion. I’ve never owned a cat before (and honestly, I’ve always been a little afraid of them), so I needed guidance with everything... feeding, litter training, basic care. The team here went above and beyond to educate me, answer every question, and reassure me every step of the way. They didn’t make me feel silly or inexperienced; instead, they empowered me to care for this little life I rescued. And the prices? Absolutely, genuinely affordable. I’ve seen so many clinics advertise “affordable” care, only to charge the same as everywhere else. This clinic is different. Their pricing truly reflects their mission, and they absolutely live up to their name... The Greater Good. I am so grateful for the angels who work here! Because of them, I walked out with confidence and hope. I cannot recommend them enough!! P.S. If you're looking for a business/organization to donate to with assurance your donations will really be put to tangible use that can be trusted, I personally RECOMMEND donating to this clinic (and no they didn't ask me to say this...this is just straight from my heart and personal experience)!!

Greater Goods Low-Cost Vet for Animals is a remarkable facility that provides an invaluable service to pet owners on a budget. The experience was exceptional from start to finish, with a special mention for Eric, the knowledgeable and informative staff member who guided us through the process. Eric took the time to explain all the necessary shots and conducted a heartworm test efficiently. The entire process, including paperwork, took a mere 10 minutes, and we left with a comprehensive record of our pet's vaccinations. The dedication of the staff was evident, with one member offering comfort to our dog throughout the visit. Their attention to detail and commitment to service excellence were evident during the curbside service. While limited to cash and checks currently, the staff was accommodating, ensuring a smooth experience even for those who needed to retrieve cash with a debit card. Overall, Greater Goods Low-Cost Vet for Animals is a commendable facility, filling a crucial niche by providing affordable veterinary care. It's a godsend for pet owners who love their animals but face financial constraints. Kudos to the team for their compassionate and efficient service, making quality pet care accessible to all.
