How to Save Money at Riverflow Pet Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had a wonderful experience at Riverflow Pet Clinic! One of the stray/community cats in my neighborhood got sick and I knew he needed vet care but couldn't afford to take him to the clinic we take our indoor cat to. I called around and Riverflow was the first to get back to me. I would not consider them a standard "low cost" clinic, but they are very reasonable - especially for the quality of care. I am also fine paying a few extra dollars if it means I don't have to wait in my car for 3+ hours to be seen at a different low cost clinic. The only real wait time here is the 10ish minutes between seeing the tech and seeing the vet (which is just how every doctor's office works). All of the staff are compassionate and really do care about your pet. Dr. Oruganti was gentle, explained everything to me, and provided us with a treatment plan that was affordable. Her presence is so calm and she didn't push anything unnecessary. The tech was equally lovely! (Side note - they refer to your pet as "the baby" and I just think it's so sweet) The clinic is small but it's clean and the care here is exceptional. I'm honestly shocked there wasn't a huge wait. Part of me wants to gatekeep this place so it can be a hidden gem that doesn't get crazy busy, but Riverflow deserves all the 5 star reviews!

I looked at a lot of reviews for this clinic and other vet clinics and went with Riverflow and I have never looked back! They take such great care of my two dogs, they are very friendly and transparent about the pricing which is very affordable. I’ve been to other more expensive vets to help with my dogs skin condition and it’s never been better than when I came to Riverflow, and I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the Dr. is knowledgeable and so nice! They always remember my dogs and my dogs LOVE coming here! I can’t imagine going to any other vet after Riverflow. I can’t recommend them enough!

I had an urgent appointment at 9 am for my dog, who was attacked by two other dogs. The clinic accommodated us the same morning, and the staff, along with Dr. Oruganti, treated my dog's wounds promptly. After the second follow-up, my dog is recovering at about 80% thanks to their excellent care and affordable prices. Dr. Oruganti helped save my 11-year-old dog, and I highly recommend this clinic. 💯

All the Staff was Excellent, kind, well educated and knowledgeable of what they are doing 🚨🚨EXCEPT THE RECEPTIONIST SHE IS SO RUDE and she went back and forward telling us a price and wrong explanation of something that we know was wrong about vaccines 🚨🚨 she also said that we need comeback another day bcs they close at 4pm and also she give us a card saying they DON’T DO WALKINGS (when in the card u can read they close at 5pm and they do walk-ins she was so upset but I suggest the owner take action and some training will be nice bcs the card of presentation when u enter to this veterinarian is not nice she needs to be more respectful when she talks to the customers. At least the veterinarian who attended my dog was very kind and she really know what she was doing and explained all the procedures for my dog.

Riverflow Pet Clinic was an incredible help with a community cat in need. The staff was kind, the walk-in visit was affordable, and the vet was thorough. We were sent home with medication and pre-filled syringes for his daily doses, which made everything much easier. Highly recommend their care and compassion.
