How to Save Money at Emancipet

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Honestly the price is not bad for a nueter. They do not include any cone or antibiotics or any pain medication for after surgery. They gave my cat a pain med shot thats good for three days that is all. The shot is normal but the lack of extra medication was odd to me, when other places I have gone almost always include that. I have taken multiple animals to get fixed over the years and how this place handles their customers and procedures are terrible. We showed up and stood in line for 40 minutes for drop off. Once inside the check in was quick but the lady who checked us in did not save our information and had to call us an hour later to refill out the paperwork. When we picked up our cat we again stood in line for almost 30 minutes and some lady just walked right past the line and went in and was helped right away. I don’t normally care but we were already standing outside in the heat. When it was finally our turn to come inside the lady tech just stared at us did not speak to us at all other than to give us the quickest shortest aftercare instructions. She made the experience so awful and I am sorry I trusted them to take care of my animal. Treat your customers better as it’s obvious this is normal for this place though just by looking at the reviews. Unorganized and rude is the short version on this place.

Wait time for walk in is crazy I waited almost 3 hours but its understandable and i cant complain because the staff was incredible with my kitten and gave him a treat and explained what was being done and what couldnt be done. Overall the vet was really nice and made me feel at ease after a previous visit at a different vet that didn't go as well. That previous vet felt rushed and like they just wanted money whereas here they seemed more helpful

I really enjoy bringing my pets here and appreciate the low prices. All of the staff is kind and helpful as well. However, I really dislike the fact that they make people wait outside in line. It’s really hot outside, and sometimes you can be standing in line for more than 30 minutes. I wish that they had a better system when it came to that.

I made an appointment last week for today 4/16/26 for 4:30 & 4:50 pm appointments. Didn’t get to the back room till about 5:15 pm when I made the appointment I requested It was for my dogs to get tested for parasites, with a fecal direct rotation, where they have to go back there and swab. I clearly stated that was my reason for the appointment. I don’t know why they didn’t call me to tell me they couldn’t accept my appointment because they don’t do that, before I wasted almost an hour there. as I’m speaking with The technician, I’m telling her my dogs are vaccinated already as of this month & I wanted to see if they can get tested. She states they don’t do that. They just do the preventative care and they can give me medication. I declined, because I actually wanted to know if my pets were positive or not negative. So they didn’t get an exam and we just left with disappointment. I don’t know why fecal test is listed under “services” when it’s not.

We had our miniature dachshund’s shots here when he was 9 weeks as well as his neutering when he was 9 months. The team was very professional and sweet to all of the dogs! They did a great job during both visits, we will be coming back!
