How to Save Money at Best Care Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can’t say enough great things about this clinic. The entire staff is amazing, and you can truly tell how much they care about the animals they treat. I brought my Doberman in for ear cropping, and they did a phenomenal job—everything came out exactly how I hoped. What really stood out to me was the level of care after the procedure. They followed up, checked in, and made sure all of my questions were answered every step of the way. As a pet owner, that kind of attention and support means everything. I have nothing but amazing things to say about them and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinary team that genuinely cares. They truly are amazing.

My dog is extremely anxious and reactive and requires experienced handlers, and Best Care Animal always goes above and beyond to make sure he is treated with patience and compassion. The staff consistently provide excellent care, and I always feel confident leaving my dog in their hands. I truly appreciate the attention and professionalism they show every visit. I drive 30 minutes each way and have been for the past 5 years because that is how much I trust and value their services!

They literally provided the Best Care for our girl. She doesn’t even notice her stitches! We had a very comforting experience and will return to this vet for future care. Thank you Best Care, for taking care of our pup so well!

I took my little dog for a sedation groom and vet visit and I'm so glad I took her there instead of just a groomer. It turns out she has allergies and has to get the Citopoint shot every month and she also has an infection from all the licking and scratching. The groomer did a good job but my dog was smelly by the end of the day and I had to bathe her again. She's like a different dog now with the allergy and antibiotic shot, so much more calm and gentle and happy. She even lets me hold her hands now, she never let me touch them before. The staff was very thorough and all of them were very friendly. Thanks again everyone.

Similar to other people leaving low ratings... We had a very similar experience at this clinic. We originally went in for a specific issue that needed attention, but instead of focusing on the reason for our visit, it felt like they were trying to push additional treatments and tests first. Throughout the appointment, we felt pressured into approving more expensive procedures before addressing the original concern we came in for. We understand that some testing can be necessary, but the overall experience made us feel like the focus was more on increasing costs than providing practical and reasonable care. It was frustrating because we simply wanted treatment for the issue we brought our pet in for, yet the conversation kept shifting toward other recommended services and expenses. For example we were convinced into getting some xrays done, and the time of picking up our dog no one went over the xrays or explained what else they made have seen. We eventually sought a second opinion elsewhere, and the other veterinarian was able to address the problem directly without pushing unnecessary treatments or costly testing upfront. Unfortunately, after this experience, we no longer feel comfortable returning to this clinic.
