How to Save Money at Bear Creek Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This morning, I visited Bear Creek Animal Clinic for the first time and can honestly say it was the best experience I’ve ever had at a veterinary clinic. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly friendly. The doctor took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel completely confident that my pet was in great hands. Everyone was knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly cared about my fur baby. Jaxon and I couldn’t have asked for better service, and I will absolutely be back with the rest of my fur babies. Highly recommend Bear Creek Animal Clinic!

I have been bringing my dog, Maui, to this clinic for about three years, and I have always chosen to make the drive here even after moving farther away because I trusted the care he received. Today, however, I left feeling extremely disappointed. I completely understand that you may not have been able to see Maui right away, and I was not expecting special treatment or an emergency appointment. I simply brought him in because I noticed a small wound that was bleeding and wanted some guidance or reassurance about what might be going on. What upset me was not that he couldn’t be seen—it was the way the situation was handled. The customer service I received made me feel as though my concerns, and more importantly my dog’s well-being, did not matter. As a pet owner, that is a very discouraging feeling, especially from a clinic I have trusted for years. I have never felt this way during any previous visit, which is why today’s experience was so surprising and disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider whether I will continue bringing Maui here in the future.

My mom brought my cat here for what we thought was ringworm. She walked in around 8am as a new patient, they evaluated him and assured us it wasn’t ringworm but gave him antibiotics for his open wound and an overall exam. 1-2wks later I got a letter in the mail as a thank you, and it had info for a 24/7 animal hospital in case of an emergency. My last vet office didn’t do that and it could’ve saved my last pet’s life. Thank you for your care!

The staff is wonderful and welcoming and their services are fairly priced. I have a German Shepherd who is reactive towards other dogs and can be with strangers when with me. I requested that I stay in my car with him until they were ready due to their lobby being relatively small to ensure he wouldn’t react while waiting especially since our appointment was on Saturday at 10 am, I thought they would be busy. We arrived early and they were quick to get us inside whenever they were ready. Kobe did good with the staff when they took him back which I expected, they did the vaccine he needed, heart-worm test and treatment for an ear infection in a good timely manner. The heart-worm result came back immediately, I was expecting a couple days because of my experience with other vet clinics, they also have a wide variety of prevention to select from. We will definitely be back and will be recommending to anyone I know who needs a regular vet.

Very kind clinic. We brought our baby here hoping for the best and planning for the worst. They were very good to him and gave us options for treatment if we felt we wanted to go that route. In the end we decided to euthanize our precious little boy (kidney failure), but the staff was very compassionate and gave us time and space to make the decision we knew needed to be made. Not the best circumstances to visit a vet for the first time, but I would definitely return
