How to Save Money at North Woodbridge Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I have a 17 year old blind and deaf dog who is nearing her journey over rainbow bridge. The vets in my area are either not accepting new patients or will only fit you in two months from now, they do not leave room in the schedule to take on end of life services. Most people can't wait two months when their fur baby is suffering. I live 3 hours away from this vet, and when I called today to talk about options I received the best customer experience of my life from Tori. She made me feel heard, she gave me space to cry and have my feelings, and was just so compassionate. She was on the phone with me for a long while combing over the schedule to help figure out where she could fit us in. I am sure things were super busy for her this afternoon, but at no point did she make me feel rushed, she made me feel like helping me and my dog was her only priority. Tori was so patient listening to me blab about my baby and recent human losses and had some very kind and encouraging words to share with me. She truly went above and beyond for us today which I will never forget. She was a shoulder for me to lean on and some light during a very dark time. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart Tori - you were exactly who and what I needed during my time today.

Don’t put too much into the negative reviews. There’s always gonna be one offs, crazy people and the fact that we are working with humans. Short story. Got a kitten 7 months ago…she came with fleas. Went to a vet close by in the area. They were idiots there. Got a referral from a friend that had a great experience with her kitten. She wasn’t wrong. The vet was great. Patient, explained everything and all options, never pushy you are in control for what your pet needs, assistants were all very kind and friendly and it was busy (means others have the same experience, saw a lot of puppies there). They asked for masks as you are in close contact with the vet which you should do to be respectful. One of the assistants processed my payment…while the other had put together a kitten pack with a huge amount of info and explained a detail breakdown of cost for spaying etc. I would call back to arrange an appointment and decide what I would want for my cat. Experience was awesome…Charlie (my cat) has a new doc. I don’t write reviews…but I wanted to for this vet. Great job guys and thanks.

After changing numerous vet hospitals we are so glad to finally find a team of dedicated staff whom genuinely have the wellbeing of the animals and their owners at heart! One of my dogs developed anxiety at another hospital over the years and since covid it’s been very difficult to take him to the vet cause we cannot go in with him. Dr Li and his team were very patient and caring. They took time and go the extra mile to make sure my pup gets the care he needed. Thank you so much!! Will be back with my other pup for her check ups too.

10/10 recommend North Woodbridge Vet Hospital! I have been using this vet for 2 years now! I brought home a rescue dog that was desperately in need of TLC. The team truly cares about the health of your pets. I am extremely touched by Dr. Lee. His kindness towards my rescue dog will never be forgotten. His empathy and willingness to help my dog was remarkable. He cared mostly about helping her rather then making my bill costs expensive. I also thank Dr. Justin and Dr. Stephanie for running an amazing vet hospital. You make my experience every time so easy! Thank you as well to the helpful receptionist you are always amazing!!! Thank you all for taking the best care and getting my rescue in the BEST health! Everyone should be booking their pets at this clinic as you will not be disappointed!

Amazing vet in Vaughan with great value. We have gotten very high care for our dog for a number of years. The vets are very friendly and professional and always include you in decisions, walk you through the options, etc. They always try to find opportunities to get the best value. The technicians and the front staff are also really great to work with. Also very strong communication by phone and email, very easy to schedule and work with. Would highly recommend.
