My two-month old puppy swallowed a bead, and it stuck in his chest. On our vet's advice, we took him to the emergency veterinary hospital, where he underwent a surgical procedure. The bill was $3,500.00. Fortunately, I had Trupanion pet insurance, and they paid for everything within a week. They are a fantastic company, and I try to talk all my friends into getting Trupanion pet insurance. They are inexpensive, and so well worth it!

Great employees make this a pleasant company to do business with
Nationwide has great employees and the employees that you speak to really seem to care. As far as that is concerned, they earn 5 stars. What knocks them down a notch is the silliness in decision making. When I bought the policy, I obliged their request to list any and all vets and it was either me or the previous vets who submitted all of my dogs office visits. I brought her for various things, but she has no specific ailments. One time, I brought her to the vet for an upset stomach after eating something off the street. Nationwide called her upset tummy a pre existing condition. I had to wait several months and submit a review request to have that restriction removed from the policy. Recently a claim was denied because something was prescribed on a follow up visit that was not related to the initial visit. There is room for improvement. Other than that, no complaints.

They finally came through after complaining on Trustpilot
After years of having our pet insured with Healthy Paws, we finally had an emergency that ended up costing around $800. That was over half a year ago. Ever since then, HP is requesting more medical records (THERE AREN'T ANY, WE'VE SUBMITTED EVERYTHING!!!!), then they close the case, reopen the case, and we go through the same stupid game over and over. It's called giving your customer the run-around. It's been the most aggravating and frustrating thing we've ever had to deal with. There is no reasoning with these people. Just a classic, scum of the earth, greedy, and highly unethical insurance company. See you in court. The Policy Number is I19044579, the claim number is 748241-1-2. Update August 2022: After months of wrangling and frustration, Healthy Paws finally settled the claim after I posted this review. Needless to say, the 1-star rating stands and our policy with them is cancelled for good.

Quick response and Payout
I was able to get a quick response and got reimbursed immediately. Only downside was I was issued a check instead of my preference of direct deposit.

Great experience with Trupanion !
We are so glad that we purchased a Trupanion policy for both of our dogs. Obviously you hope that you will never need it, but if you do Trupanion does an excellent job!! We had found a lump on Sydney's leg, which our vet diagnosed as MCT. Purdue Veterinary Small Animal Clinic did a full day of tests and we now have a treatment plan moving forward. The invoice from the Purdue appointment was taken care of within 5 days !! Such a relief that moving forward with treatment, Trupanion is behind us !! Thank you!!
