People ask me if pet insurance is worth it. Let me show the proof. The past 2 weeks have been brutal for my cats. Four in ER for extended stays and tests and treatments. I have just done the math. Without Trupanion and their pay up front program, I would be out $18109.11 which I am not sure how I could have afforded that and perhaps my cats would not have survived. Trupanion paid up front $12, 855.08. I ended up with $5224.03. Still a lot but more manageable than over $18 thousand. Thank you Trupanion Insurance! My cats and I love you!

Healthy Paws has been a perfect choice for our dog. Their response time is prompt, reimbursement thorough and robust and communication professional and warm. We had costly diagnostic tests for our young dog with sudden leg lameness and they have had our backs with support and appropriate payments. Recommend Healthy Paws 100%

A long relationship, many struggles
When I first got pet insurance, every claim was a struggle- sending in the forms and waiting, the vet sending in medical records over and over again only to hear from trupanion that their fax was broken. It got easier after a few years, and then they started changing the policy and denying coverage of medications to treat GI parasites. 🙄 Rates slowly rose and my pet became older and needed more care, so we stayed. Policy changes happened, and yet we stayed. The biggest red flag was when someone told me that they had called Trupanion and were able to tell me how much I paid for my policy 😲 The Trupanion rep had had no qualms about releasing info about my account to someone and when I brought it up with Trupanion they said they were looking into it, then crickets. When my pet passed, at 12yrs old they strung along the final few claims and when I got the payout letters, some of them had absurd claims for SPLEEN ENLARGEMENT when in reality it was diabetic syringes purchased at the pharmacy. They didn't even cover the cremation. I won't be purchasing or recommending Trupanion to anyone.

Beware of false advertising
I was extremely happy with Pumpkin, they were very responsive and the claims had a really quick turnaround time. They had the most overall coverage of all the plans I researched. All great...UNTIL I was not reimbursed for something they had clearly stated as covered on their website (see screenshot, BEWARE they DO NOT cover CBC at an annual exam). Totally false advertising, especially for something VERY expensive. Don't care how good your insurance is, if you lie...I'm OUT!

The customer service is Outstanding! There are good things about having pet insurance. But the lack of certain coverage, does not lessen the expensive out of pocket costs
