Unacceptable claims service
I used Sonnet for car insurance for two years, with basic coverage on an old car. I initially chose them purely on price, as I was a young male who did not get very appealing insurance rates from other carriers. Sonnet offers a large discount for accounting graduates, but was not especially competitive without this. While far outside of my home city, my car was vandalized with two windows broken. I made a claim online with a police report, and photos, with a very clear description of the straightforward damage. Sonnet took 6 days to call me back about my claim, by which time I had been forced to drive over 1000km back to my home city with my windows shoddily covered. It took another two days for Sonnet to direct me to an appraiser, but neglected to send any details or contact to the appraiser beforehand, which caused difficulties with their shop. After appraisal, which was a routine an non-complex replacement of a side window and rear windshield, I never received a word back from my adjuster. I tried calling, and emailed the adjuster, the support line for Economical insurance, and was unable to get a response. No quote or arrangements for repair were ever received by me throughout the claims process, nor did it appear that I could get a call or email back from anyone, especially my assigned adjuster. After a month of being frustrated, I googled some glass repair shops in my city. All three of the top hits had online quotes, and offered me same day service for the repair. Unfathomably, all of the quotes were at least a couple hundred dollars beneath my deductible, so I should have been advised not to proceed with the claim to start with. I was angered and unsatisfied by the non-responsiveness of the customer service. Additionally, the claims process was not timely by any means, and made me suffer the loss of use of my vehicle for a month, which I needed for work. Overall, the claims process for a very straightforward repair was incompetent, and unprofessional. I would have gladly paid an extra five hundred dollars over a couple years of insurance to actually get timely, responsive service. God forbid people who are significantly injured in an accident, rely on their car more than myself, or want to access some of the less straightforward insurance benefits need to make an insurance claim with Sonnet. I have told nearly everyone I have interacted with over the past month about the unprofessional service of Sonnet, and would advise everyone else pay someone else more money for an actually legitimate insurance service.

Dental Procedure Costs
My dog had dental X-Rays in January 2023. Ended up having 2 additional teeth removed (my dog never had a set of X-Rays taken and due 1 tooth falling out unexpectedly my vet recommended the X-Rays). I feel that ALL PET OWNERS SHOULD HAVE PET INSURANCE. Yes it is 1 more bill to pay each month; however, if your pet needs a surgery/procedure done that is costly, the pet insurance will help big time! The dental procedure for my dog without insurance to help me out would have been a little over $1,300.00 out of my own pocket! Who has money like that just sitting around??? With Nationwide Insurance, I pay my monthly premium (premium amount depends on the dog age and general health), after the $250 deductible is paid, Nationwide Pet will pay 90% of the claim and the owner only pays 10% of the claim. With my pet insurance through Nationwide Pet, I was able to afford to have my dog have dental X-Rays, plus have 2 bad teeth pulled out.

Awful!
I had insurance for years without a claim. Last month, my credit card on file had a new expiration date and did not go through. My policy was canceled. I was told they emailed me (I searched my email account and only an email from 2 years prior came up), and mailed me - which I did not receive, I called to get it reinstated and they won't do it. My dog is now 6 years old and they can't even create a new policy. Awful!

We understand there are times a policyholder's credit card used on the policy could be lost, compromised by fraud or that there may be a change in bank accounts, expiration date, etc. When an account goes into suspension due to the fact that we are unable to bill the card on file, we make every effort to keep policyholders up to date and informed about the status of their accounts. Multiple notices are sent via email, and a Notice of (upcoming) Cancellation is sent out via regular post as well. There is also an automatic grace period taken into account. However, at the end of the grace period, if we do not hear back from the primary account holder (prior to the cancellation effective date) the account is canceled. In order to provide our coverage with no annual or lifetime caps for all pets enrolled with us, we offer plans based on the pet’s information and claims payout in each state. Since your pet fell outside the enrollment guidelines in your state, we could not re-enroll your pet.
