Obnoxious breadth in defining "pre-existing" conditions
Figured they would be worth giving a shot. Premiums weren't too bad for the coverage, but the breadth of health issues not covered due to pre-existing conditions is almost criminal. My dog had a case of dermatitis. Therefore, they saw it appropriate to deny any and all coverage - until there had been a full year without any and all skin issues - for any and all ailments associated or related to the skin. It's literally the equivalent of your insurance denying you a biopsy on a suspect mole because you have dandruff. My cat was noted to have a heart murmur on the last vet visit that was suspected to be a result of untreated hyperthyroidism. As a result, they denied any and all future coverage of any and all cardiovascular related health issues. Keep in mind (despite what the apparently uninformed representative thought), non-congenital heart murmurs can be treated if caused by underlying issues such as anemia or hyperthyroidism. Despite this, even if the murmur went away with treatment for hyperthyroidism, I was told "it doesn't matter because heart murmurs are chronic conditions" which again is absolutely false depending on the context. This was only 2 months in and I hadn't even tried to submit a claim yet. Just cut my losses and moved on.
