No loyalty to customers
I was with HEALTHY PAWS pet insurance for 10 years, they processed my claims, while raising the premiums every year with no problems. I called to let them know my boy had to be euthanized (age 12) for health reasons, they told me the euthanasia would be covered, to file my claim the day after. I filed the claim and cancelled the insurance as told. It's been two weeks since I've filed, I just received an email saying they were working on the euthanasia claim, and asked "please let us know how Dominic is doing". Really....just goes to show how sympathetic and caring they are, asking me how my deceased boy is. I work at an animal shelter and always recommended HEALTHY PAWS, not anymore. I'm so disappointed

When I thought no one would help or understand my situation Trupanion was there!
I'm so grateful that I have pet insurance! Yesterday morning I woke up to hear my dog Spencer unable to catch his breath, sneezing and coughing. He was congested and struggling. So I wrapped him in a towel and drove to the 24hr. VET Emergency Clinic (Clinic). To make a long story short I had to pay $500. upfront to the Clinic, before I handed them my dog, also adding to the stress for both my dog and me I wasn't allowed to go into the clinic because of Covid. 20mins later I received a phone call from the Vet Tech. explaining what could be or maybe the issue and that they'd like me $4,500. upfront before they begin any of medical tests, X-rays, blood tests, etc. The Vet Tech let me know that the amount was an estimate. If the cost was lower the difference would be me. If it cost was higher I would have to pay the difference upon invoicing. I called Trupanion to see if they could help. The person (I wish I remembered her name) who answered the phone was so kind and understanding. She calmed me down and said she would see what she could do. Even though Trupanion could give the money up front they did get a preapproval done and made me feel they were on my side. It is very stressful when your pet gets ill and needs medical assistance. Excellent
The Embrace response was excellent. My policy covered the full scope of treatment from the initial diagnosis of a malignant tumor, removal of the tumor by a Board Certified Surgeon BCA DACVS, almost a month of radiation therapy and continuing post-surgery monitoring by an Oncologist. It's been over a year now since the initial diagnosis. Maggie is cancer free, in great physical condition, and turns 11 next month. Embrace provided coverage with no question, for the entire time . Based on my experience, I highly recommend Embrace for insurance coverage.

Two knee surgeries in 2 years -- covered
My dog tore her first acl two years ago and trupanion paid for 90% after deductible. This year Ripley tore her other acl and needed surgery on the other knee. Trupanion paid 90%, no deductible because it was considered the same condition as the first. These were $4000 surgeries. Each. The claims were processed so quickly and easily, I never had to really even think and stress about the cost.

Look elsewhere for pet insurance.
They are helpful up to the point they don't want to cover a claim. Then they wont answer your calls or emails. They apparently have your number marked as do not answer and will leave you on hold forever, no matter how many times you call. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
