Excellent Service

After a horrible exprience with a previous company I switched to Trupanion and I am very pleased. Max stopped eating, vommitted and had bloody stool so I rushed him to the emergency vet 2 weekends ago, he needed IV antibiotics and was ready to go home the next morning with some antibiotic pills. His misadventure cost $660 and Trupanion is covering $460 of it, well worth the switch. (If this were my old policy the vet & I would be faxing all of the documents 3 times each, only to have it denied.) Trupanion made an unpleasant experienc, for the dog and I, much better with their prompt and fair service!

amazing pet insurance

has worked with me and has covered a lot of my pets emergencies.i would recommend this insurance hands down to anyone who has a loving companion.i own 3 chihuahuas and Trupanion has covered a lot of things such as medication,biopsies,hospital fees,etc. AMAZING! i can sleep better at night knowing my pets are in such great care if needed.

Trupanion is Amazing!

I am obsessed with Trupanion's service and plan and have recommended them to everyone I know. I used to have VPI but they used a benefit schedule and I got almost no money back every time I submitted a claim. My vet recommended Trupanion and I was fortunate enough to switch to them just before my 4 year old greyhound raced himself right into a barrier at the beach and ended up with serious rope burns and trauma across his chest. Between the emergency vet and several visits to the regular vet we racked up quite a bill. The most important thing, of course, is that my dog is OK. But the fact that Trupanion did everything they said they would and reimbursed everything they said they would made a really bad situation a little bit better. Everyone I spoke to was kind and helpful, their claim forms are easy to complete and my checks came in less than a week. I HIGHLY recommend Trupanion!

I had never purchased pet insurance for my previous pets and have experienced some very expensive vet bills throughout 30 years of dog ownership. I was asked to consider adopting a Yellow Lab whose owner had unexpectedly passed away and I felt that pet insurance would be a good investment. I had heard about Trupanion through PETCO. I went on line and read up on numerous plans and I felt, by far, Trupanion offered the best coverage. It didn't limit amounts for certain illnesses, etc. like the other plans and it was much easier to understand. You have $20,000 of lifetime coverage, excluding routine exam, vaccinations, and other items (like pre-existing conditions) that are clearly explained. There is a waiting period before coverage will be effective, but this is also explained (5 days accident, 30 days illness). During the second month of ownership, I noticed my dog was experiencing intermittent vomiting and a dry coat. Following bloodwork to rule out any potential cause for this problem, it was determined that he had a very low thyroid level. Once he was put on medication, they needed to re-test his thyroid in a month. I submitted my claims by fax (each invoice has to be submitted as a separate claim) and I received an e-mail confirmation from Trupanion that they had received my claim. My vet's office was contacted the next day to have his medical records faxed to Trupanion. I was also contacted to see if I had any past records from the previous owner.

My dog owes his life to this company.

Without Trupanion I would not have been able to afford the first class care my beloved dog needed when he had a stroke. I would never have a companion animal without vet insurance.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
