Don't Reimburse for Examination/Consultation Fee

We insured our 9 week puppy for $34/mo. At 6 months our emergency room visit for an infection was $171. Trupanion claims they pay 90% of your costs, but they didn't pay for the Examination fee, ($85) [How weird is that!!] , so we were reimbursed $71. True, there is no deductible, but it is false advertising, in my opinion.

Good company easy to work with

I signed up for the Trupanion 2 month free trial offer. About day 28 into the trial offer my dog ingested two AA batteries. I took him to the Vet and recieved a $616 bill. I filled a claim with trupanion and faxed over the entire medical history. Less then one week later I have a check in the mail for 90% of the bill as promised. They are really easy to work with absolutely zero hassle. The only thing I would improve is the ability to submit claims via email. Not everyone has a fax or enjoys going to the post office. I would have given them a 10 had they had email claim submission.

48 hour approval

Submitted my claim on a Monday for $ 550.00 and had an email approval by Wednesday. Check was in my hand by Friday. 90% of the $550 minus my exam fee and zero deductible. What more can u ask for? And... All tests showed NO CANCER! Peace of mind that I would not have been able to afford.

Amazing Customer Servce

I have a 12 year old cat who I love like a child. She has always been healthy but then after her vet died I found out just how expensive vet costs could be (my previous vet had extremely low costs even for major surgery). After pricing the surrounding vets I realized I needed pet insurance. I then began debating whether to cancel the insurance or not especially when funds were tight, but given her age I figured I'd better keep her insured. Well the last few months have been very difficult in our house - our dog died of tumors and internal bleeding and then my cat started getting sick. They diagnosed her with hyperthyroidism but fortunately since she was in the early stages they were able to do the I-131 Radioactive Iodine treatment. Trupanion picked up all covered costs and did so at lightning speed. I had an email with the approval within 3 days of faxing in my claim forms. Every member of their staff I've dealt with were so compassionate and genuinly care about the pets they insure. I would highly recommend them for any pet owner that truly loves their pet and would do almost anything for their quality of life. Brilliant Service - Highly Recommended

I signed up with Trupanion two years ago (when it was still Vet Insurance) and have never once regretted my decision. My monthly payments are comparable (even lower than were I to go with anyone else), I chose not to have a deductable and they have been wonderful to deal with every time I've had a question, a concern or have had to make a claim. The last claim I made was just this week. I faxed the insurance form and documentation in on Tuesday and not only recieved an email to let me know they recieved the claim, but also emailed me to let me know when it was opened and when a payment would be coming. It's been 3 days later and my claim has already been processed. They are quick, efficient and most definitely the best (and only) choice to make when deciding about pet insurance.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
