Taxes Not Covered

When purchasing this product no where did they say taxes where excluded in their list of items not covered. They say they cover actual vet costs. Well my vet costs included taxes. So I only received 77% of my bill. I only found out about the non tax was after submitting a bill. Prior to purchasing the policy there was no information about this. Otherwise I would have checked others that DO cover taxes and cover 90% up to $20,000. I feel this is an issue for the Financial Services Commission. Out of $10,000 bill I received back $7000.00. What do others think? Do your homework about everything. In Canada we pay taxes on everything! If its not excluded then it should be included. Sneaky sneaky!

Fracture Radius

Our 5 month old puppy broke his leg running up deck stairs, and we had to get him to a vet for a review and casting. We were out of town when he had this accident, and Trupanion was great with understanding the multiple vet visits. They were fast on contacting us upon receiving, processing, and accepting the claims. Poor pup! He's been so good and on the way to recovery not needing surgery yay. Thank you!

Pennies and cents reimbursables

they try everything not to pay up and adding insult to injury, they will reimburse you pennies and cents against your claim. they wont pay up for an annual check up. a clean bill of health was favourable to them, which means they can continue to take my money knowing fully well that i wont hit them with a big bill in the future, their profit, my loss!

Couldn't ask for more

I began with a free month trial of Trupanion, not ever expecting to use it. Lo and behold, a few weeks later my Aussie ruptured a ligament in his knee, a traumatic experience for us both.Trupanion at first wrongly refused my expensive claim (they are a business after all). But after my vet contacted them through their appeals process, they were more than cooperative. My dog is now up and running again. It may have taken a while, but I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. What started out a as trial on a whim, has earned them a life-long customer!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
