Highly Recommend Trupanion

After doing a lot of research three years ago, I selected Trupanion to cover my then 2 year old rescue. She had been starved and abused so I purchased my first pet insurance policy to cover her. Trupanion has sliding deductibles so I could create a policy that worked best for me. I wanted a policy that would cover serious medical issues, while I took care of her routine care, so I selected a higher deductable which also gives a lower monthly premium. When you get insurance, you really hope you never have to use it. Unfortunately for my dog, she ended up in the emergency vet twice this year with bills for each incidence exceeding $2,000. The most recent incidence was mammary cancer. It was such a relief to know that I had Trupanion and could give my dog the care she needed. Trupanion was fabulous processing my claims for both incidences. They kept me advised every step of the way. They processed my claims quickly and covered all the charges submitted. I really can't say enough good about Trupanion! If you are looking for pet insurance you should really consider Trupanion.

Much improved since I first got insurance

I am quite pleased Trupanion as I feel the company has become more user friendly. I have noticed that reimbursement turnaround time is much faster and claim is clearly explained as opposed to earlier prototypes. I am glad I gave Trupanion a second chance- it has proven to be well worth the monthly premiums.

Insurance is great but it took two months to process because they needed to get all the background info from his other vets before processing. I'd assume any further needs would be much quicker. The Care Credit Card gives 0 interest on bills over 200.00 so that helped avoid interest charges.

Good Customer Relations

Payment took a little longer than expected but settlement was fair. Contact maintained throughout process. Customer relations was very attentive and cooperative. One definitely significant negative-I was notified almost immediately after my claim was paid that the premiums would be increasing by about 25%.

Although I appreciate that this company has extensive coverage, the claims take too long to process.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
