Service

We have 2 golden retrievers that are almost 8 years old. We have had them covered through Trupanion since we got them as pups and have been very satisfied with the service. We are always recommending the company to new pet owners.

Great Company

Trupanion did a fabulous job keeping me updated with claims and they paid 90% of Oscars Veterinary, medications and his rehab this is a very good pet insurance company and I recommend it to everyone with a pet. Larry Cameron

Kind, fast and very helpful

Out of nowhere, our dog got sick and ended up needing an emergency transfusion. She had to stay 2 nights in observation and have several tests performed to find out what was making her sick. Not only were we really worried that she may die, it was also very expensive. But when a treatment can save your dog's life, how absolutely devastating would it be to be not be able to approve it because of cost? I'm so glad we had insurance through Trupanion. I called wih tears in my voice to try and figure out what I needed to do and they were so nice and helpful. I received an email stating they were reviewing my claim the very next day after i submitted it and I received a check in the mail that same week. I am so grateful that i could focus on getting my dog the best care she needed instead of also having to focus on ways to pay for her care.

Excellent

I love Trupanion and refer and recommend Trupanion (insurance) to anybody and everybody I talk to. I am so thankful I have coverage for Cindy. I love the sliding scale option for deductible and the 90% coverage.

Excellent in every way

I was impressed by each step of the process in submitting a claim. I was notified my claim had been received and quickly updated as it was reviewed. A check was issued within 10 days of the medical incident - my own family doctor should be so prompt!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice. To view a full list of inclusions and exclusions, check out our sample policy here.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
