Farley's Claim
Our 10 month old Beagle mix swallowed half of a tennis ball while we were away for the weekend. He had to have an emergency exploratory surgery after ultrasound and X-rays showed that the foreign body was puncturing his small intestine. Farley stayed 2 nights in the 24hr emergency hospital under extensive supervision and monitoring due to him vomiting and not eating after surgery. This was the scariest and most stressful 3 days my boyfriend and I have ever experienced. We paid the hospital an initial deposit but afterwards they submitted an express claim to Trupanion for us and when we picked Farley up to take him they did not make us pay the remainder of the bill. The hospital was reimbursed by Trupanion within days of submitting the claim and Farley has been doing great ever since! This was our first claim with Trupanion and we can't thank you enough for making the process so quick and easy for us during that stressful time!

Awesome!
Trupanion is the best! My dog has epilepsy and is on daily medication. I fax in my bill for medication and they deposit the money directly to me within a few days. I've had no issues with them and would definitely recommend them.

Love these guys!
Consistently amazing customer service, human answers the phone immediately to talk about your non-human family member(s). Once we re-faxed the claim form, I had a response within 24 hours and a check in my mailbox within 3 days. The coverage really is at 90% and my pup gets amazing care without costing me my monthly rent. Love love love Trupanion!

Hassle-Free Reimbursement
Doggy had a sudden swelling bulge under his tongue. It didn't seem to bother him much, but it was abnormal. No apparent cause was identified and exploratory surgery was recommended. This is the first claim I have sought coverage with Trupanion. After the required deductible was met, coverage was at 90%. At the time of paying for treatment, most providers will likely require payment be received prior to returning the pet to the owner. Simply ask the office to complete the Claim form that can be easily prepared from the web ahead of time, or provide a blank form for future use with the office. The information will be reviewed by the underwriting agency, and payment remitted. Some aspects to be aware of for first claims, Trupanion will want to receive copies of medical records to verify pre-existing conditions prior to pet being insured. In my case, I insured my pet the first evening in my home. The responsiveness of the particular vet's office will determine when this request is fulfilled. Delay will result in claim remaining pending, but I do not consider that to be problematic.

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
