It is a convinience and relieve to have trupanion

I submitted the claim in the morning and by the end of the same day they process the claim and sent th check.Customer service always has the answer for your questions and provide the help you need.

I have two Shelties.. one has a cardiac issue.. sensitive skin.. arthritis..The other has arthritis..hip dysplasia..sensitive skin..

Hassle-free, comprehensive insurance policy

My puppy was unfortunately dropped when he was very young, and started experiencing some troubling symptoms. His head was bobbing, he was shaking, and he couldn't balance himself or walk. I immediately rushed him to the vet, and paid whatever expense necessary to ensure his health. After all was said and done, and my puppy was thankfully fine, I was refunded over half of the cost of the procedure! My deductible was set at $250, and that plus the 10% cost would make it out to be half. It was thankfully not horrendously expensive, but having much of the cost reimbursed was absolutely wonderful. Trupanion dealt with the matter in a manner of days, and gave me no troubles about using the insurance policy even though it was only just over a month after I had began the policy. I would recommend Trupanion to any of my family or friends!

Beware taxes not covered

Trupanion reviewed our claim quickly, but they denied taxes. Taxes are a cost to us. We pay taxes on our premiums, and people health insurance includes coverage on taxes. When we signed up in 2010, taxes were not excluded. Somewhere in between 2010 & 2016, taxes were excluded. That reduces our payout from 90% to 76%. After a $1000 deductible. Suddenly the plan is much less worth it. And I just checked all my emails about policy changes. They included this benefit and that increased coverage, but NOWHERE did the emails say "oh and we now deny taxes". The first I see taxes excluded is a policy in 2014. But I didn't get copies of the policy between 2010 and 2014 so maybe it was earlier. Not impressed with this.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
