Teeth removal

Our 6 month old shih tzu, Sassy, was in for spaying and umbelical hernia repair. Our vet found she also had decidious teeth that was not loose and interfering with the formation and placement of permanent teeth. With our permission, she pulled these teeth while having her under anesthetic for the other things. While Trupanion does not cover spaying or the umbilical hernia (pre-existing), they promptly paid for the teeth removal and part of the anesthetic. The claim was handled promptly and completely to my satisfaction. Best decision I made was to get Trupanion. I have peace of mind.

Top Notch Pet Insurance

I'm totally amazed at this insurance company. They do exactly as they explained to me when I first joined. In fact, they respond faster than my human health insurance!!I don't think I could have found a better company.

Put your money in the bank

Our dog had luxation surgery on her rear legs prior to us signing on with Trupanion. We've paid a couple thousand into Trupanion and when our dogs rear right ACL partially tore last year Trupanion covered part of the cost. We were told that when one ACL goes there's a 90% chance of the other going - which it did but, it caused a level four luxation to occur as well. We did not think that our dogs full surgery would be covered but, did expect some coverage as the ACL was not preexisting. We went to a certified orthopedic surgeon who confirmed that the ACL is a separate issue. Trupanion was not willing to meet us half way and denied our claim. By the time we tally up our bills we will have paid out over $4000.00. If we put the money spent on insurance into a saving account we would have had more than half her surgery paid for.

What an awesome experience!

My Angie all of a sudden started having diarrhea and some vomiting. Ultra Sound and meds and follow up can get costly!! I was grateful to have insurance and so glad it was Trupanion!!!

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
