Beyond Expectations!
Our last dog was terminally ill and had huge veterinary bills at the end of his life, so we were sure to cover our new puppy with insurance. I was skeptical that it would benefit him, especially at such a young age, but I knew premiums are lower if you start young.
Our puppy ate one of those suncatcher suction cups and required tests and eventually emergency surgery... $4K total!
Our primary veterinarian works directly with Trupanion, so we never pay more than the deductible (per illness for LIFE, wow!) and then our 10%. We have confirmation of covered amounts in minutes. Our surgeon does not work directly with Trupanion but submitting the claim was literally as easy as taking a picture and we had confirmation of covered amounts in a day. The specialty imaging does not work with Trupanion and was at first not covered due to the way it was billed, but after getting a slow response, one call to Trupanion resolved the issue after they contacted them on our behalf.
We truly only paid our $150 and our 10% and all the refunds were deposited straight to our checking account. The entire case was paid and done well before our puppy's staples were out!
I always spoke with a live person who was caring, concerned and understanding. This incident occurred just after our year anniversary and our rates had increased a few dollars but I would gladly pay even more knowing now how reliable Trupanion is.
