Trupanion is awesome

Over the last few weeks I have dealt with Trupanion because of a small problem my Morkie was suffering from. Every person in the organization was friendly and helpful to me, and we were able to get things organized quickly so that Bella could have her surgery. I would highly recommend Trupanion if you are looking for Pet Insurance. I wouldn't be without it!

They wont cover our claim.

Bought insurance from this company for our kitten as soon as we got him, (8 weeks old). Shots always up to date, neutered, vet exams etc etc. Had him to the vet last week for more shots and exam, and they found that he still has a baby tooth and it needs to be pulled. (He's a year and a half old now). This is something that they list in their policy as being covered under the plan but, Trupanion refuses to cover this as they claim he has never had a dental exam, which is untrue, he has his teeth and mouth looked at everytime he goes to the vet. And he had not had any dental exams, we would not even know about this baby tooth. Very shady company. This battle is not over but I would be very leary about purchasing insurance through this company.Buyer beware!

Happy little dog!

My Maltese/Yorkie cross needs surgery to correct a problem with her knee. Trupanion was very helpful and responsive to all of the questions that I had. They helped me set up online banking so there were no delays in getting reimbursed. They are very well organized and polite. I would highly recommend this company for your pet insurance needs.

Don't be duped!

I've had Trupanion for my dog for almost 10 years and what a mistake! For a short time I also insured my cat but the one time I filed a claim, they wouldn't pay because they claimed it was related to a previous issue even though I had my vet call to say it was different. I pulled my cat's insurance at that point but kept my dog's because insuring an older pet is harder. The biggest issue though, was recently. After 10 years with literally only 1 small claim, my dog had a rough year last year with a number of claims. Coincidentally, only a few months later, my premium TRIPLED!!! After 10 years of the same rate. They say they don't raise the rates after a claim but that is absolute bull. And they've screwed me now because my dog is older and will be difficult to insure. What a terrible company.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
