Couldn’t have gotten him the surgery without Trupanion

My young dog needed bilateral knee surgery so that he would not develop debilitating arthritis as a result of his condition. Thanks to Trupanion payingnthe clinic directly I only had to come up with the deductible, tax and my 10%.

Never regret my monthly premiums

People always say “I can just put the premiums I would have paid in the bank instead” but do they ever? And what happens if you have issues back to back? Vet bills are not inexpensive. I want to know I am making decisions based on what is best for my boy, not what I can afford. Trupanion gives me the peace of mind to know I can make those choices. I have had them for five years now and recommend them every time someone asks.

Awesome

Every claim I've submitted to trupanion has been processed quickly, and they keep me informed along the way. When I call to talk to them, I'm on the phone with a human almost immediately - no nightmare automated system to navigate. I feel completely confident in the support of trupanion if I have to deal with any medical bills, which makes an already difficult situation much easier to handle.

Trupanion Keeps my Nellie Alive

You know that dream of having the cutest puppy that you would take on walks and go running and hiking with? Well some of those did come true for me when I met Nellie at 9 weeks old, but 2 days after picking her up she got severely ill and almost passed away from Parvo! I rushed her to the ER vet and will never forget when they handed me an invoice quote for $6000 for trying to keep her alive. I remember bursting into laughter thinking somebody forgot to remove a few zeros from the bill! Then I remembered that we got pet insurance when we picked her up, but of course I thought there is no way they'd pay for that! I send in a pre-approval claim to Trupanion with the help of the ER vet and it came back that they will pay. Long story short after 12 days in the ER, Nellie came out skin and bones but alive nonetheless. I only had to pay my portion of the bill (10% + consultation fees and applicable taxes) and Trupanion paid the rest. This was in May 2016. Since then Nellie has suffered several ailments and a lifelong condition due to her initial medical issue. It is a lot of work and stressful and frustrating at times and very costly. But I wouldn't be able to continuing caring for her if it wasn't for Trupanion. To date, I believe our claims are closer to $20,000 when you include the monthly medications and the number of procedures she undergone. If you were ever doubting the need for Pet insurance, don't! Just get one and go with Trupanion!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
