I honestly am extremely happy with Trupanion. I have been with them for years. My dog is now 7 - and she was about 6 months old when I got her and got Trupanion. Prior to that, however, my previous dog was covered by Trupanion and I don’t know what I would’ve done without them! My pets are my kids along with my two legged human kids and I would do anything for them! I could never and will never have a pet euthanized just because I can’t afford the vet bill. That being said, I have never ever had to make that decision because of my excellent coverage with Trupanion! There was a time about six years ago that I was unhappy with Trupanion because I felt like I had to keep appealing their decisions regarding payment of the deductible. That was something I never experienced before so it was very frustrating at the time. We went through a bit of a rough patch but they have again become an incredible company to deal with. Their coverage is extensive, and I don’t have to worry about my four legged baby girl because her plan is top notch and Trupanion has earned my trust. I recommend Trupanion all the time to people, and I cringe when I hear someone is with a different insurance company. The one concern or complaint that I have is the monthly premium increasing every year. Trupanion states that they do not increase premiums based on the amount of claims which is great, if that in fact is true, but their rates increase every year and I don’t like that. I don’t think the premiums should increase yearly and when there is an increase, it should be minimal. It would be nice if they covered part or all of a vet exam as well. All vets charge an exam fee and that can be a financial hinderance for seeking vet care. A past dog I had ended up at the vets for nearly 3 months. Everyday a vet would do an exam, often more than once a day. I ended up paying thousands of dollars in exam fees because Trupanion did not cover that. Otherwise, I’m very happy with Trupanion and at this point, there is not any other company I would go with because I love Trupanion! Feedback: Trupanion’s invoice/notice is confusing when a claim is submitted by the vet clinic because Trupanion does not show all of the information as to what was and was not covered. It would be nice if I could look at a Trupanion receipt/invoice and see exactly what the vet submitted and what Trupanion covered and did not cover. They only give very bare bones information. For example : if I had some meds at home and didn’t need them from the vet, I can’t tell if it was billed to Trupanion or if it was taken off the invoice because I can’t see any details. ADDITIONAL RESPONSE: Trupanion is still pretty good but the way their deductible works is unfair. For ex If there’s a limp in the front right leg - you pay the deductible. If a limo occurs in the left leg, you pay the deductible again. If there’s a tooth problem, you pay the deductible and then pay it again for another tooth. They don’t cover exam fees at all which really adds up and, they do things like - my dog had a root canal and while they were doing that discovered a tooth that needed extracting. While she was under anaesthetic, the vet cleaned her teeth. Trupanion doesn’t cover teeth cleaning so they also would not pay for anything that was shared between the two procedures (cleaning and dental work) so they only paid a portion of the costs related to the anaesthetic. ALSO - they’ve replied and thanked me for the review but NOTHING has changed with the billing issue. They leave themselves WIDE OPEN for insurance fraud because they don’t share any details about what exactly was submitted and what exactly was paid and what was not. To have to call them and go over it on the phone is useless because I can’t see what they’re talking about. I feel completely in the dark and I do not like that! I’ve had vets submit something and I get notification but have no idea what it is or why or what it’s for.

Thank you for being so easy to deal with. The past few months have been hard with our dog getting ill twice. The process was smooth with direct billing and it took a lot of stress off of us. I recommend Trupanion to every dog owner I meet. Thanks so much for being awesome!
