Bad experience autos and home…
They have had our autos and home insurance 10+ years.. I obtained an online quote for a vehicle and the online system said they will cancel my insurance next month as they do not insure that particular vehicle. I didn't choose to insure it with them, simply obtained a quote. When I called, they said I needed to prove this and that for my insurance not to be canceled, literally needed to jump through hoops and for what, being a good loyal paying customer?
Then I had a tree fall on my shed and they paid cash for the repair of the roof. I got it repaired by a handman cash job. They said they needed a receipt and bill of materials or they'd threaten to cancel my insurance? I paid cash, no receipt, no bills.. Just very robotic,inhuman company just like you'd expect from
Insurance companies. If you're looking for an insurance company to treat you like a human and be understanding, this is NOT it
They have the lowest rates, but each year they will double them for no reason. Yes double them. They count on you not switching. My insurance went from $1,200 a year to $7,500 a year in few years with no claim no accidents no change in risk. They just kept doubling until you notice and change. Its predatory, not in good faith and really intended to make them money purely on trickery.
Several things made this great for me. First I got a group rate thru Tangerine, then I get 2% of that cost put into my savings account as it is a recurring payment (or will be!) and lastly and perhaps best the total cost is over $600.00 less expensive than my old coverage would have cost me!!! Amazing and so easy to do online, coverage is as good as and in some parts better than my old insurer.
Company charged me after the policy had expired. Feb 2024 they did not take the payment from my credit yet in my Sonnet account online it showed I did pay it. I called them 3 different times in the 12 months of the policy and they ensured me I was up to date. They renewed my policy on Sept 1st 2025 took this first payment out and three days later emailed me saying I had missed May's payment. I called and they acknowledge that I had paid that month and that my account was in good standing along with my online account showing I had made all payments . Then on Sept 17-2025 they charged me for Febuary's leaving me unable to pay other bills. After hours of conversations they refuse to compensate me for my due diligence in maintaining my account. I am in the process of finding new house Ins. and will have to cancel my credit card to ensure they don't have another claricial issue and withdrawal fund from my credit card, therefore spending more time updating payment methods with the numbers other companies that I use my credit card with, after I cancel my policy with them.
