Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

We got Pets Best almost 3 years ago after my senior dog had a battle against pancreatitis. It cost us about $8000 to save his life. Originally when we got our dogs, dog insurance was unavailable or not very good so we did not opt in and figured in their older age, insurance companies would either charge crazy premiums or not accept them or not cover very much. After that scare with our dog's pancreatitis, we decided we'd try getting an insurance for our two senior dogs. Many insurance companies would either not cover them or charged an exorbitant amount or only cover 50-60% of the bill. Pet's best accepted our 10 year old seniors at 80% repayment at a decent monthly payment, $500 deductible, while covering an unlimited amount of costs. We decided to accept their quote and here we are three years later. We will stay with them until our dogs pass. Our senior dogs have had all of their ear infections covered, all of their eye conditions covered, including a surgery to remove a bothersome chalazion and cataract removal from both eyes. This totaled over $10,000 and they covered all of it. This insurance was completely worth it to us. The people at Pets Best are kind and respectful, work with you on appealing decisions, and get the claims processed in a decent timeframe. We are extremely satisfied with the service and highly recommend any other first time senior dogs insurers to sign up here.

As others wrote below, If I could give 0 stars i would. Filed a claim on 8/11/2022, claim denied, appealed on 9/20/2022 and won appeal. Got notice that check was cut on 10/13/2022. Called on 10/26/2022 to verify when check was actually mailed. I was told that the check was mailed on 10/13/2022. Waited until 11/4/2022 and called again. Had check cancelled and switched to ACH. I was told that it would be 3-5 days to receive. I received a phone call on 11/9/2022 to verify my mailing address(I don't understand why address needed to be verified for ACH). I received the check during this time. Check was actually issued on 10/27/2022 not 10/13/2022 as I was told. Called back the week of Thanksgiving and was told that I had to wait 21 days not the 3-5 days that I was told when I called back on 12/2/2022 and was not that it was not 21 calendar days, but 21 business days and I would have to take into account of the Thanksgiving holidays. Today is 12/12/2022, still no payment. I called again today. Was on hold for over 20 minutes and then got hung up on when they were checking on payment. I was told that their accounting department was looking into it. So still nothing original claim was submitted 8/11/2022 and 4 months later NOTHING. No answer about when i would receive the payment. No answer when or if they would call me back. NOTHING. Just stall tactics. People pay good money to protect their children with fur and then companies like Pets Best try to screw you over.

EOB isn’t clear enough. My policy sad it would cover surgeries and when I got my dog neutered they didn’t cover any of it because it’s not preventative? What other surgeries count as preventative? I’m disappointed

Poor claim processing time

Scam of a plan, why would I paid the extra if they won't cover maintenance such as accupunture it's not injury related. They won't cover my dogs annual blood work. What do you cover?
