Pets Best | Pet Insurance Review

I originally received a rejection to the claim which was not for a traditional check up or vaccinations but his ongoing skin condition. I sent an email on a Saturday and was immediately called back. Representative agreed with me and put it thru for review. I am very happy to report that my claim was reviewed and payment was made.

I bought this insurance years ago after Blackie had a huge and expensive fight. Assuming we would be in this cycle for awhile (having spent huge sums already) I got Pet's Best Health Insurance. It was like a cure for the fights. I kept the premiums up and, who would have guessed in old age, a fat shiny low key cat, my Blackie, was diagnosed with HYPERthyroidism! The Dr and I scratched our heads knowing Hyperthyroidism should have been exhibited by a skinny nervous ratty looking cat. We ran tests again and, sure enough, hyperthyroidism! As his nails were being trimmed on that visit the cat-whisperer noticed a black mass on Blackie's left eyeball. Several vets looked at it and came to break bad news to me...potential malignant ocular melanoma. We all decided to get the thyroid issue in balance and then approach the surgery to remove his left eye. The formulated Methimazole gel (a bit pricey but Pet's Best made this possible for lifetime treatment, thank you!) applied to outer ear twice daily did the trick. Onto making my darling Black cat into "one-eyed Blackie, the pirate scourge of the rodents". He went through the surgery with charm and composure...not requiring the cone collar except when WE slept (for our good, not so much his). The biopsy of his left eye came back benign...it was an ocular tumor but NOT malignant...meaning no chemo/radiation and full body x-rays every six months to look for metastasized tumors. HOORAY! No cancer and his thyroid in balance resulting in a healthy even more low keyed Blackie. Thank you, Pets Best, for the helping hand to make these big expenses not weigh on my cat's life.
