Excellent choice for pet insurance

Our experience with Pet's Best has been great so far. We had a labrador retriever for 13 years who had many health challenges and became quite expensive. We swore if we ever got another dog, we would get pet insurance from day one. So, this past January, when we got a puppy (right before COVID hit) we researched for pet insurance and I found Pet's Best. Our vet had provided us with a few other companies, but their plans didn't have as good as coverage. We decided to sign up for the BestBenefit plan and it was the best decision we could have made. When our pup was just four months old, we learned that developed elbow dysplasia, which is a genetic disorder similar to arthritis in humans. She had to undergo double elbow surgery, which cost us over $3500. We had only been with Pets Best for several months, and even though our plan covered this genetic disorder, I thought for sure they would find a way and not pay us the 90%. They originally denied the claim, and when I called them to discuss it, I learned that they simply needed additional documentation, which I promptly sent. Two weeks later, I received the reimbursement check for the full 90%. Although calling and talking to someone can take upwards of 20-30 minutes, it was worth the wait for me to speak to a representative to know what was going on. Like many insurance companies, you need to stay on top of your claims, and be sure to reach out if you have concerns. When I did speak with the woman at Pets Best, she was very helpful and gave me the appropriate information to see my claim was reimbursed. Although this is our first experience using pet insurance, we are very happy to have chosen Pets Best and I would recommend them to anyone who is contemplating insuring their fur babies.

Outstanding coverage and support!

Our two-year old shelter rescue developed a complex eye infection. Pets Best was with us all the way. Kitty is clear of infection after several months of treatment. This support saved her eyesight. We are so grateful and so impressed.

A scam

I have insured multiple dogs over many years with pets best and not filed a claim for years. One claim now for an unprecedented issue and it is denied. What a scam! I have paid thousands, many thousands, of dollars into this company and they won’t reimburse. So sorry I ever recommended them to anybody. I won’t be doing so again.

Too long to process claims

They have taken over a month to handle simple wellness care claims. And now they are taking longer for my cats $400 illness claim. In these times I NEED my money back quickly. I pay this company $300+ a month, you would think in these times they'd prioritize the needs of their customers. My first claim went smoothly. I am very disappointed now.

Still deciding whether to stick with them or not

I made a claim for an ear infection my cat had. It was my first claim and I just wanted the $30 applied to my deductible. I figured it would be really simple. The claim took FOREVER to process. It has me nervous for when I need reimbursed for a serious expense. Literally over 40 days to process. My friend works for Trupanion and they require claims to be processed in 1-2 days. It’s astounding to me the difference. Trupanion is more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for... Anyways the needed records from an old vet. When I provided the vets info they requested the records and sent me an email explaining if they didn’t get the records in 3 days they’d contact me for help getting them. 5 or so days pass, boom email saying my claim is denied because they didn’t get records. I called and got the RUDEST customer rep. She said it’s because I never called back to provide them with the missing records. No one told me the vet didn’t send it! She kept repeating the same line and told me basically too bad the claim is closed. I called the vet and they emailed records the day it was requested. They even forwarded me their original email. I called back and got a much nicer rep who explained the claims auto close after 40 days. She pulled up the records in seconds and said they never got uploaded. She reopened the claim and by the next week the money was processed towards my deductible. Would that have happened if I got the rude woman again? I got pet insurance after spending $10,000 on my dog who died last year from a terrible autoimmune disease. I can’t imagine if I was trying to be reimbursed for one of the regular $2k emergency vet fees. 40 plus days and all that stress and hassle?? I’m already asking friends who they use to see about switching. They need to make sure all their customer reps are like the second woman I spoke to.
