ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE

First, it took an extreme amount of time to process our claim. Second, most of the claims submitted were refused due to their explanation that our dog's ear infection was caused by a pre-existing condition, namely allergies, when in fact, it was misdiagnosed & became sever due to the presence of 3 different types of bacteria. how is having 3 bacteria a pre-existing condition? We did get our dog an allergy shot & medication for his paws ( he does lick his paws due to allergies) but I did specify that I was not claiming those charges. Were it not for our boy being 9 years old, I would look for different insurance for him. and now they are raising their rates for him because of his age.

Not a high price for piece of mind

I highly recommend the preventative package along with the standard insurance if you have a baby pup. It is so easy to work with this company and they truly cover everything they say. We have actually gotten more out of our policy than we paid for it with all of her standard shots, tests, etc. It makes vet visits much less stressful and you don't ever second guess doing what's best for your pet.

Straightforward and Simple

Pets Best keeps it straightforward and so simple! We took our dog to the vet, took a picture of the receipt, logged into Pets Best, made a claim by uploading the pic, and the money was in our account in a couple of weeks. We appreciate Pets Best and how easy they make it for us and our dog. She keeps us on our toes so her insurance doesn't!

As always they take forever to process…

As always they take forever to process claims. This insurance isn't good value for money as their customer service is non existent and they take forever to do anything.

Not worth it

Pets Best used to be a great insurer. They were so quick at processing claims and the customer service was exceptional - you could always get an answer within the same day, often the same hour (via phone, email, or chat). However, last year things started to get bad. Claims are still very easy to submit! But, my rates jump considerably every year, and claims processing now take over a month. At first, they blamed it on COVID-19, but now that is just how long it takes. I have had claims denied and they will not respond to my attempts to understand why. In fact, the only way to get ahold of them is to call an 877 number and sit on hold for hours, or to submit a response to their chat operator (which never operates) and to never receive a response. I would cancel my policy today but I am still waiting for them to process a claim I submitted weeks ago which I do not want to jeopardize. I would not recommend Pets Best to any pet owner. You will pay much too much for far too little.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
