Appealing the same claim TWICE.

Incredibly long claim processing times - not fast at all, as their website claims; 21 days for one medication (which was ultimately denied). Submitted a claim for a brand new condition; underwriters thought it was preexisting and denied it. Despite supporting documents, underwriters aren't getting that it's brand new. I'm on my second appeal. Customer service is hit or miss. READ THE FINE PRINT. Grade: D

Competence and compassion

We have had our two dogs insured with Pets Best since 2017. Our older one became suddenly very ill a few weeks ago & died in a matter of days. The staff at Pets Best were wonderful in helping us take care of the resulting claim & policy changes. The claim was processed and paid two weeks earlier than estimated. We plan to increase our coverage on the younger dog now. Thank you, Pets Best, for your caring as well as your competence.

Too slow of a claim process

I question some of the recent 5 star reviews with the short comment of "Their claims process is very quick". Nope it is NOT. I'm on hold with them right now & have been for 30 minutes!!! We put a claim in on 6/15 they denied the claim 20 days later stating missing documents. I uploaded the documents within a 1/2 hour of that email denial & it's been in process EVER SINCE. It's been almost 45 days now!!!! Does the claim process start over again just because you're missing ONE DOCUMENT?? If you research BBB you can see most recent complaints are all 100% due to the claim process time's being way too long.

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
