Carl was very thoughtful! I called in with a claim question and he thoroughly combed through months of medical records to ensure he was providing the best advice as possible. While I didn’t get the outcome I was looking for, the logic and reasoning he provided made sense. I’m thankful he took my call tonight; he’s definitely an asset to Nationwide.

When it comes down to it and your pet is diagnosed with cancer you hope to have coverage for adequate diagnosis and treatment The benefit reimbursement for this insurance is very low and completely out of touch with the current market. It did not even fully cover the cost of a biopsy and CT scan and I was out of benefits for cancer until my next benefit year. Needless to say my dog will likely not live to see the next benefit year commence. Only their top tier policy may be worth while. None of my pets qualified to upgrade to that policy when it was introduced as they had pre-existing conditions meaning claims had already been filed . This company was VPI years ago and was wonderful. Nationwide took over and it’s awful.

I have the Nationwide policy that pays 90% on all claims. They do not pay for grooming, etc. But all health related items are paid at 90%. They do not charge based on claims but age. I had policy with Nationwide prior to this one that pays 90% and they still have it (I believe) and pays a lower percentage -- same service and claim rating as insurance I now have.

I had nationwide for years and as the animals got older the premium went up. Ok that’s kinda normal but the denied every claim. I paid 10 of thousand dollars to insure 5 pets. I canceled today after another run around re: another claim. There are other better insurance policies with other companies

Terrible insurance for your pet. I bought 2 policies when I got 2 puppies. My coworker told me great things about their policies. What really sold me initially was the wellness coverage. What a mistake I made listening to him. The 1st thing is the wellness only covers vaccinations, flea, and heartworm once. After that you will be lucky to get a dime let alone an explanation as to why they don't cover basic vaccines. Recently submitted a $600 plus vet bill for annual vaccines and checkup. Only received $70...yup you read that right. The premiums cost more than the reimbursement. My renewal came in March and somehow a vet bill from April has already met my yearly reimbursement evethough they paid almost nothing out. Really shady insurance company. Don't buy anything from them.
