Nationwide is good at poor customer service

Nationwide had been a good pet insurer for our family until recently when they more than tripled the monthly cost for less coverage. When I cancelled my account with them two days before my monthly payment is due, they took the payment out anyway and since they require payment one month in advance, they now have over $600 of mine that they will not refund for ten days. Not only that, I was not able to remove my credit card from their system when I cancelled. They are definitely not worth my time or money and I am happy to be insured under another company's policy. Poor customer service is obviously far more important to Nationwide than ensuring my dog's health.

If you have a fur baby, get Nationwide Pet Insurance. You will not regret it if you do. But you will regret it if you don't!

I would rate 10 stars if I could. I adopted my sweet pup and immediately enrolled in Nationwide Pet Insurance. I selected the policy with the $250 deductible and 50% reimbursement. I cannot tell you how great it is to know that no matter what, they will be there. My sweet pup passed at the age of 4 due to pancreatitis and left me with a broken heart and huge $11,800 bill. I filed a claim and had a check within a week for 50% of that bill. Not only did they refund me a policy over payment but they also sent a sweet card to share their condolences. I am working on adopting 2 new pups and Nationwide Pet Insurance will be my first call once I get them home. I know we do not plan for our babies to get sick but it is so much easier knowing that you are protected financially and it allowed me to give my baby a better chance at fighting even though he did not make it. I knew I did everything I could.

Screwed us over

When our pet got cancer Nationwide claimed it was a pre-existing condition because a vet had treated the same part of the cat for an entirely different issue 1+ year earlier. The vet was dumbfounded at how they could say the 2 issues were the same. We paid thousands out of pocket to heal our furry family member. I feel like Nationwide is laughing at us, all the way to the bank with their ill gotten profits on our pain and suffering.

Don't Bother! They wont cover whatever it is...

They look for every excuse not the cover your pet! Unless you get their insurance when your pet is a newborn and has absolutely nothing wrong with them, everything is considered a pre-existing condition not covered by them unless it is 'resolved' first. My cat has a heart murmur, likely her whole life and super common in cats, and because a murmur is not curable, no vet visits or treatments to do with the murmur or checkups for the murmur are covered. I have been paying for a service I cannot use, and they refuse to provide a refund. I do NOT recommend this insurance UNLESS you only use it for very basic services on a perfectly healthy animal with 0 conditions prior to it being born.
