Overall good experience
In the beginning I was a bit concerned based on the negative review I've read online about Nationwide Pet Insurance. However my other co-workers who have it had overall positive experience. Since it's the only pet insurance option through my employer, I decided to give it a shot.
My 9 yo Bichon/Lhasa mix was peeing blood after his teeth cleaning procedure. I thought it was surgery related issue, and I took him back to the vet. After first diagnostic (caused about 400 something dollars), they told me he had bladder stone. With his type of stone, the only option was to remove it surgically. The cystostomy (bladder stone removal surgery) caused $1,345.49. I filed both claims with Nationwide. They asked for a full medical history to prove that the stone wasn't a pre-existing condition. So I sent them that. Another 3~4 weeks later, I got my reimbursement. Minus the Out of Pocket minimum, I got all of the cost reimbursed including the 1,345.49 bill. Conclusion, the process could be a bit faster, but in the end I'm glad that they covered the procedure. The claim process was easy, too.
