Does what pet insurance is supposed to do

Have filed many claims for my canine non-human companion. Nationwide has always come thru without question. Timely payments and customer service has been helpful with any inquiry. I am not being compensated for this review.

Nationwide is really "on your side"

I've had pet insurance for many years for all my past dogs when they were known as VPI. My Harry T was 7 when I got him and developed several "old dog issues" in his golden years. Upon his passing in 2005, VPI reimbursed very well on that last week he was in doggie hospital, reimbursed the unused premium and then did something that still leaves me in awe; they sent me a sympathy card indicating a donation being made in Harry's name to one of their local animal shelters.

Easy & Fast Turnaround

I've been with Nationwide for over a year now. Ethel was a stray when we adopted her 3 years ago. She is so loving and playful. We fell in love with her the moment we saw her. As a stray, we did not know how long she has been out there. The only health problem we have come across is her bad dental hygiene. We were afraid to put her under to have a through teeth cleaning due to a heart murmur and the outrageous cost. With Nationwide Pet Insurance, it put us at ease to know that we will be recovering some of the cost and finally made the decision to do it. She did amazing even with 7 extractions. Thank you Nationwide!!!

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
