Having Nationwide Pet Insurance when our kitty got injured was awesome...

Our adventurous cat fell out of a tall tree and broke his jaw. He had to have it set and wired shut and the emergency surgery was not something we budgeted for nor could really afford. We paid it out of pocket and were worried how we would cover our other expenses for the month. We submitted our claim and the needed Dr. notes and invoice online to Nationwide. They kept us updated thru email and had sent us a check within 3 weeks. They covered all of our out of pocket expenses minus our deductible. They told us when we take him back for second surgery to remove wires and check up to submit the follow up the same way and that would be covered too. Amazing....

Disappointing

I’d not recommend VPI. Slow processing of claims, unreasonable limits on the one time really needed, and high premium with excessively high increases.

Phenomenal process, very easy to follow and quick on the response.

I can't provide enough positive feedback for your claim process and overall customer service for my dog's pet insurance. Thank you for the quick turnaround and easy to follow instructions on submitting a claim.

Excellent Pet Insurance

My tomcat is a loveable, wonderful delinquent. He brawls. He gets neurotically stressed out when I travel and his bladder gets all inflamed. Last winter he got cabin fever so bad he barbered a big patch of fur off his hip and had a bald patch for months. I love him, and I love having a quality insurance company behind us to help me out when he needs muscle relaxers or medicine or special treatment at the vet. In a perfect world, I'd have a quiet, sweet, even-tempered kitty. In the real world, I've got Jimmy and Nationwide on my side! Thanks, Nationwide!

Disappiontning

I have five dogs. I thought pet insurance would be a good idea, and I thought Nationwide was a reputable company. I only chose this insurance because it was offered by my employer. I should have read the reviews before purchase. Nationwide is quick to deny claims, and it takes them weeks to over a month to reimburse. Their call center is lacking when it comes to skilled client service.

Monthly Cost

Policies start at approximately $12 per month.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
Since 1982, Nationwide has helped pet owners protect what matters most. In 2015, it introduced Whole Pet with Wellness, the only U.S. pet health insurance plan offering complete coverage for injuries, accidents, illnesses and wellness care. Policies range from nose-to-tail coverage to routine pet care plans that offer reimbursement for wellness exams and preventive treatments.
