Nationwide | Pet Insurance Review

Trupanion was my first pet insurance policy. The deductible was applied to EVERY claim. When I cancelled my policy, the rep tried to apply pressure tactics including, “If you sign up with Nationwide and cancel, they won’t accept you if you reapply.” (The Nationwide reps are polite and well informed.) Nationwide provides better coverage (routine exams, etc) and confirms my claims are being processed via email; when completed I receive emails and texts. My dog is undergoing surgery at VCA West Los Angeles Hospital. Trupanion is the only insurance displayed. (They accept Nationwide.) When I told the staff and surgeon I dislike Trupanion, they said pet owners appreciate the “quick” processing. I’d rather have more $.

I appreciate that the claim review process and payment has really been efficient lately. My poor pup has been through a few things these past couple years and knowing I have Nationwide behind me has helped ease just a bit of the stress of all that. Thank you!

The customer service reps at Nationwide are incredible helpful . Claims are so easy to file and reimbursement is timely . I am so happy I went with Nationwide !!

While the insurance policy is quite pricey it is worth it and it has paid off. I figure if I add up my monthly premiums e.g. ~$100 for the year = ~$1200 and get paid on claims throughout the year at minimum $1201, it was worth it. Every year, but 1 in 13 years, that has been the case for me. The ease of submission of claims is great and being able to check the status of the claims plus EOB online, is super easy and convenient as well.

When I first adopted my rescue at 6 months old, I hesitated getting dog insurance. For one, I was on a budget, and really couldn't waste money. I reviewed the plans, talked to people I know that had pet insurance, and decided I would at least get the major medical coverage. Well, let's just say that I am thankful that I made that decision. Nationwide has been extremely nice to deal with, answering any questions that I may have, and also they process claims on a timely basis. Highly recommended.
