Good value when we needed it

Healthy Paws Pet insurance has been easy to work with and has always covered our claims without any issues. When buying pet insurance, make sure you read the entire policy before purchasing (i.e. things like pre-existing conditions, cruciate ligament exclusions, etc). Many policies, Healthy Paws included, do not cover the actual office visit. However, our bulldog has had several issues and the health insurance policy has covered all of her prescription medications, x-rays, blood work, etc. She recently required an MRI and then 1 week later a major surgery to her knee. Healthy Paws covered both of these which made the decision to pursue treatment SO much easier. Submitting the claim has been very easy (either via app or our vet will fax in the claim) and they direct deposit my reimbursement. Most reimbursement happens within 1 week (the longest it has ever take was 2 weeks)

Great experience with coverage for emergency life saving surgery

I was in a very dramatic situation with my dog Zsa Zsa, who was diagnosed with a tumor on her spleen which was threatening to rupture at any moment in her abdomen, leading to death. I was given an hour from the surgeon to decide if to put Zsa Zsa to sleep or perform an expensive surgery that I couldn't afford. In that hour, I was not only able to reach Healthy Paws but a very friendly customer service associate was able to give me enough certainty that the surgery was going to be covered that I gave the go-ahead. Zsa Zsa survived the anesthesia, the operation and the recovery and is now again healthy. And Healthy Paws, after a very quick review, covered the contractually stipulated amount. All in all, an amazing experience. Healthy Paws

Healthy paws is the best!

Healthy paws has been amazing since we got our first dog in 2016. We now have two dogs and have been through multiple incidents including TPLO surgery, hematoma surgery, heart-worm, & Distichiasis (eye surgery). I can’t recommend them enough. Super easy auto pay every month & easily upload your vet invoices on the app to put claims in. As long as I have pets I will forever be a healthy paws client!!

Fur-ever customer

I decided to get pet insurance when my dog Banksy was a puppy because I wasn't sure I'd be able to afford it if anything happened to him. As I got older and more financially stable, I figured I wouldn't need pet insurance for any future pets. But then my awesome Rhodesian Ridgeback, Banksy, got a freak bacterial infection of the liver at the age of 8, just a few weeks ago. It was very sudden and he got sick fast and we took him to the emergency vet, where he ended up staying for 3 days. His health was declining rapidly and the vet said that a biopsy of the liver would be the best course of action to try to identify what was wrong with him and give him the correct treatment. As she was rattling off the options and costs, she said the surgery (best option) would be $12,000-$15,000. In that moment my heart sank because it was so much money and we probably wouldn't make that choice. But then I remembered I had pet insurance and it was a huge relief. We went forward with the surgery, but sadly the infection had gone too far and wasn't treatable. We had to say goodbye to our Banksy dog very suddenly. One of the only things that gave me comfort during such a sad time was knowing that we did everything we could for him. If we didn't have insurance, we wouldn't have been able to give him all of the options and I would have always been wondering if we could have done more. His total bill was $16,000 and Healthy Paws covered 80%. It was super easy to file the claim, and the check was in the mail within a week. I will always have Healthy Paws insurance from now on, in hopes that I will never need to use it. And if I'm lucky enough to not use it, I will be happy knowing that my monthly payment might go towards covering another pet and giving their owner peace of mind that they too could do everything possible for their fur baby.

Best Pet Insurance on the Market

About a year ago our cat started having serious health issues. He's only 8 but has had to go for several ultrasounds, emergency room visits for illness and requires monthly meds. After we paid his $100 deductible HP covered 90% all expenses minus office visit. He's treatment and monthly meds have had to cost over 8K out of pocket in the last year. With out the HP plan would have had to make tough decisions on how often we could take him to the vet. He is still with us and doing well!

Monthly Cost

$15 – $80, depending on breed, zip code, age of pet and choice of deductible and co-pay.

Coverage

One plan covers accidents, illnesses, cancer, emergency care, genetic conditions, alternative care and more. You can choose a co-pay of 10%, 20%, 30% or 40%. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

No per incident, annual or lifetime pay-out limit.

Deductible

You can choose an annual deductible of $250, $500 or $750* *Choice depends on age of the pet

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment. Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
