Healthy Paws gave me an extra year with my pup.

I adopted a 5 year old retired racing greyhound who had a repaired broken leg. Reading some other reviews, I was concerned about preexisting conditions but I found Healthy Paws very honest and straightforward about what would be considered a preexisting condition. I decided to go ahead with the policy and I never regretted that decision. For the first few years, my dog luckily remained healthy and I didn’t have to submit any claims. His rate increased every year but I understood that as he got older, there was an increased chance that I would need to submit claims. This past year I got the worst news ever- my baby was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. This is a quick death sentence for many pups. His vet gave him maybe 2 months left. Because we had Healthy Paws, I was able to aggressively fight this disease using the latest technology. There would be no way I would have been able to afford all of his tests and treatments without them (over $10,000). They covered amputation, chemotherapy, countless X-rays, nuclear scan, acupuncture, daily medications, and ultrasounds. They gave me an extra year with my baby and I am forever grateful to them.

I signed up for Healthy Paws when my…Healthy Paws insured Pippa from 10 weeks old...

I signed up for Healthy Paws when my pup was just 10 weeks old. The 2 week accident free waiting period was worrisome, but not overly so. If I had been smart, I would have signed Pippa up 2 weeks prior to bringing her home to alleviate the waiting time on my watch. But all was well for just 6 weeks. One day, Pippa limped unexpectedly and went lame on her back leg and was in sharp pain and distress. it was a Sunday. Always happens. So off to the emergency vet. X-rays, pain meds and a diagnosis: broken ankle needing emergency orthopedic surgery. Cost $6000. I called Healthy Paws to verify my coverage, which they did. With little financial worry, I could focus on Pippa and her surgery and treatment plan. I received my invoices and sent them over to Healthy Paws along with my pups limited vet records. Less than a week later the claim was settled and less than two weeks later, the correct reimbursement is in my hand. And my Pippa is still in her cast because the whole process start to finish at Healthy Paws took less than 2 weeks. The only major drawbacks that I find to the coverage is no coverage for office visits. No 90/10 plan coverage. No optional wellness plan. But to their credit they offer unlimited lifetime benefits. That’s what drew me to choose Healthy Paws. A catastrophic illness like cancer or kidney disease will eat up a $10k annual maximum in as little as 30 days. I know. I was there. So, when I looked around this was a priority. And with rates at 1/2 of the competition, $30 monthly, I can afford to pay for several office visits per year out of pocket if necessary. So, for me Healthy Paws was the way to go!

Buy Insurance before you pick pup up!!

Healthy Paws was a lifesaver! I signed up for insurance 3 days after I brought my 10 week 1.7 lb Pippa home. The 3 days and the 2 week waiting periods or the policy to go active were agony. All I could think of is what if something were to happen. Now I had no logical reason for being so worried. I just was. And then it happened.. at 10 weeks, . Pippa cried out, limped and went lame on her back foot. No cause, just was. Of course it was a Sunday and our vet was closed. But knowing we had Healthy Paws made decisions easy. Off to the ER.. exrays. Pain meds. Diagnosis: broken ankle.Remedy: : Emergency surgery by anOrthopedic Specialist. Estimate:$5500. But with Healthy Paws I knew that finances were the least of my troubles. I have an 80/20 plan. So I knew the maximum I would owe right up front. Sure, 20% is a struggle but one I will happily take on and let Happy Paws pay the rest. Filing a claim was very simple. Just submit the invoices. Provide her limited medical history. Wait one week. Claim was settled for $3800. Week 2: Received my claim checks. Healthy Paws made promises to me and Yes, they followed through! The only thing that I wish they would cover is the office visit and ERVisits. They do not cover those which add up quickly. But for my premium of $30 monthly and my coverage, Healthy Paws still gets my vote!

I recommend Healthy Paws.

When I got my dog Rooney as a puppy, I decided to get him health insurance because I didn't want him to ever lack the care he might need. After reading the positive reviews for Healthy Paws, I chose them and could not be happier. In the five years since, I've made a few claims and they are always so easy to submit and are processed quickly. Thanks for the excellent service Healthy Paws.
