BUYER BEWARE and FOLLOW-UP.

BUYER BEWARE. I have been a loyal customer since 2012, insuring my 3 dogs for nearly $300/per month. I have been escalating a claim on a very painful ACCIDENT my dog sustained that knocked two teeth nearly out of his jaw. However, Healthy Paws continues to DENY the claim saying the tooth extractions that were necessary so my dog did not have to walk around with his two front teeth literally dangling by the nerves from his gums WAS ELECTIVE DENTISTRY. Monstrous treatment of a customer. The claim is 70% of $2300. After paying them nearly $30,000 over the past 8 years, I would not expect them to deny a claim for an ACCIDENT. That's the ENTIRE POINT of having insurance. Healthy Paws does NOT care about the health of your pet. They care about their profits. I am actually SHOCKED I paid this much over the years for such terrible service! Do yourself a favor and open a saving account for your dog's health and let it accumulate interest to pay out-of-pocket in the event of accidents or disease - you will come out ahead. DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE! Waste of money. Total scam, like ALL INSURANCE. It's a racket. Get yourself out of it. 04/07/21 ADDENDUM: Interesting follow-up: After going back and forth with Healthy Paws for 4 encounters (you HAVE to keep at it or they hope you will just lose hope and patience and then simply go away), they have now UPPED my monthly premium because one of the reports from this dental visit listed my dog as a Wheaten Terrier (which is ONE of his breeds, most likely, but he is CLEARLY a mixed breed - most likely part Wheaten, part Mini Poodle, part West Highland terrier), and so now they want to reclassify him as purebred to gather a higher monthly premium. I have been asked to bother my vet (who has better things to do, like treat and save animals' lives), to send them a letter stating that he is a MIXED BREED, not purebred. They are determined to get my money one way or another. This will be the last pets I ever insure. Seriously, anyone reading this - put that money into an interest-bearing SAVINGS ACCOUNT and if your pets don't get sick, then you keep the money. And, if they do get sick or injured - you will have the CASH on hand to give them the medical treatment they need without haggling with a gatekeeper.

Healthypaws is a must have for any pet owner

I have had Healthy Paws for my Golden since he turned 5. He's now almost 11 and just in the past two years, we have had some meaty claims. Healthy Paws is easy to work with, all you need to file a claim is upload the invoice/receipt from the vet and that's it. Once direct deposit is setup, they deposit the reimbursement directly into my bank. In 6 years of being insured with them, I have yet to have a bad experience with a single claim. We recommend Healthy Paws to friends and neighbors alike.
