Healthy Paws made a stressful time better so we could focus on our pet's recovery

Our dog was involved in a pretty severe accident where he was dragged behind our dog sitter's car. He had to be hospitalized for four days, required surgery and has had a month-long recovery. Knowing we had insurance gave us so much relief as we talked through worse case scenarios with the vet hospital. The customer service line answered my calls, and the process to upload the claim was very straightforward.

Healthy Paws gave us peace of mind…

Healthy Paws gave us peace of mind during a very stressful time! Our dog had a very bad accident that required four nights in the vet hospital and multiple follow ups and surgery. We were so grateful to have the assurance and knowledge of insurance to do whatever was needed for our pup!

Disappointed in decline of service

I have been a client for four years. I loved Healthy Paws and recommended them to many friends and family members without trying to get referral money. I didn't need a payout for supporting a company that cares. A recent claim was confusing to me using phrases like, "As such, we are unable to provide coverage for your pet's preventive care," but also, "We will be sending your claim reimbursement shortly." The claim was for an ear and skin infection. I questioned what this meant and said we would need to re-think our pet insurance if infections aren't covered and part of preventative care. In my opinion, the reply was just as cold and rude, "I recommend reviewing the Explanation of Benefits that was provided in your claim email as that outlines what was covered versus not covered. The email gives an explanation as to what was not eligible for coverage based on the line items on the invoice you submitted. I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team with any additional questions after reviewing your Explanation of Benefits." There is no comment on which line items are being referred to in my explanation of benefits. It's a bunch of paragraphs that start with, "See also Section, DEFINITIONS, items," but which section is being referred per sections of my vet bill? During previous health scares, I remember I would get emails from kind-hearted people asking how my pets were. Now I'm just a number that gets pushed off on someone else.

Can't say enough good things about Healthy Paws

I bought HP when Maggie was a 6 month old pup. Yes premiums have gone up, just like they did on my health insurance. I attribute the health of my 5 1/2 YO Golden Doodle to a team of great vets including my family vet, BluePearl Speciality Vets and Health Paws. March 2020 Maggie developed IMHA which is an immune system problem where her immune system was attacking her new red blood cells. Transfusions are a top gap measure of which there were 2. Steroids and an IVIg infusion saved her life. Health Paws was there for us. We have another 6 months before she is discharged. She is now healthy and back to her old self. All blood values are NORMAL! There was only one clam they rejected because the FDA classified the IVIg infusion as an experimental treatment even for humans. Costs so far are in excess of $10k.including my out of pocket. Don't regret having gone with Healthy Paws.

Best Pet Insurance Ive had!

I highly recommend Healthy Paws pet insurance!! Ive used other pet insurance companies in the past and truly appreciate everything about Healthy paws! They have a simple claims process, just snap a photo of your invoice! They are VERY fast at processing the claims and getting the money back to you! But one of my favorite things about this company is the personal care they show toward my sweet dog. He had two TPLO surgeries this year. Each time they sent an email asking about how his recovery was going and mentioned hoping my other dog was doing well too. They took the time to show they care and I appreciate them for it. The monthly cost is very reasonable and even though they don’t cover office exams, the cost of emergencies or illness is what I use them for! I accept the cost of having a pet, it’s the unexpected injuries that can catch you off guard. Having pet insurance is a way to never worry about making sure your beloved pet has the best care they can get… because you know the cost will only be a fraction of the total with Healthy Paws. Definitely get pet insurance and definitely get Healthy Paws!!
