I’ve had a very positive experience with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, especially during a recent and stressful medical situation with our dog, Kanela.
Kanela developed an illness that required multiple emergency veterinary visits to diagnose and treat both secondary reactions to medications and the underlying cause. Each step involved extensive evaluations, treatments, and documentation. After submitting invoices and medical records, Healthy Paws responded promptly every time. Their claim processing was efficient, and the explanations of benefits were clear, concise, and easy to understand.
What stood out most was their attentiveness. Beyond processing the claims, they even sent a follow-up email to check on how Kanela was doing, which felt genuinely supportive during a difficult time.
While we hadn’t used the insurance much over the past six year because Kanela had been relatively healthy, two separate episodes required emergency care, and Healthy Paws was fair, consistent, and responsive throughout. Age Limits
Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and under 14 years old at time of enrollment.
Once enrolled, pets can stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Coverage begins 15 days after your policy starts. There is a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia claims.
Exclusions
Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
Hereditary and congenital conditions are covered, however hip dysplasia is only covered in pets who enroll before they are 6 years old.
