Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

I used to love healthy paws but recently they've been horrible with claims processing. I used the app recently and a claim sat there with nothing being done for 8 days only showed submitted. The rep on the phone blamed the app so I submitted via email and it's now day 3 and nothing has been done with my claims. I'm only told they are sitting in a queue and will be handled eventually. Still not assigned to a claims adjuster. Absolutely ridiculous! I'm backlogged over $2000 in claims that I can't submit because they sit there and are done in order and as of now they aren't even processing the 2 I just submitted. Also the management team will now only email you and do not directly reply to your questions. Instead you get form responses. Multiple representatives and the manager that emailed me used the same exact phrasing (form response). The management team member never even directly answered the question I have so they don’t even edit the form letter response at all except to change your name and the management persons name. The quality of their company is definitely declining now. Go with a different company. Unfortunately because my dogs have chronic conditions I'm stuck with this company now.

The BEST investment we ever made was getting Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for our pup! He recently tore his CCL and needed a VERY EXPENSIVE and extensive surgical repair. We did't worry about the cost because we knew Healthy Paws would cover 90%! We simply submitted the bill electronically and within a few days, our refund was direct deposited into our account! So simple and so reliable! Every pet deserves great care and Healthy Paws Pet Insurance will give you the ability to do so! Highly recommend them!!

We were shocked to find out how much my dog’s heart tests and medications would cost. But 3 days after the testing, I received my reimbursement from Healthy Paws. And to top that off, they sent an email asking how he was doing. This was much better service than I got from the policy held for my prior dogs.

I don’t even know what the hell I am paying for. First cat had some problems. They said they didn’t have his records. I sent them the day I opened the policy. I then had to send them THREE MORE TIMES before they stopped sending me “Final Notice” emails on the claim. Ultimately, they denied the claim. Shocker. Second cat now has issues, AGAIN they don’t have his records and AGAIN I sent them on the day I opened the policy and then another time for good measure after the first fiasco. Now I am sending them ONCE AGAIN. I should have cancelled this scam policy after the first time I had issues with them. What a waste of money. Terrible customer service (they can’t even tell you what it is that they need when you call!). Policy number I24548399 (records were sent on 2/4/22, I have proof) Find another insurance company!

I thought to myself, what health issues could an 11 week old mixed puppy from a Kentucky shelter possibly have? An older dog, yes, but would a young puppy really need health insurance? So I almost did not get Healthy Paws. Then I remembered that puppies do tend to chew & swallow things that they shouldn’t, and get into all kinds of mischief! So I did get Healthy Paws for my new puppy. This was in May of 2021. I looked at several companies & liked that Healthy Paws had no annual or lifetime limits, and covered problems at 90%. No, they do not cover routine health care or wellness, and I knew that going in. I wanted it for unexpected issues. Plus, it also came recommended to me by a model & actress who had adopted a Pit puppy who has had numerous surgeries & issues running into thousands of dollars. She told me it was all covered at 90%. Well, unfortunately, this last year we have been dealing with some unexplainable intestinal/diarrhea issues, plus itchy skin issues. What a life saver Healthy Paws has been! Our puppy has had numerous tests, including allergy testing by a specialist dermatology veterinarian, ultrasounds, bloodwork, different medications. Ugh. We never expected all of that with a new puppy, but she’s adorable and we love her to pieces! Healthy Paws processes my claims so quickly. It’s so easy to use their app on my iPhone, snapping a photo of the veterinarian’s invoice and sending it through the app. In as little as a couple of hours the claim is processed! The only time it takes longer is on weekends when my veterinarian is closed, which means Healthy Paws can’t contact her for more information… Right now the monthly premium is affordable, and yes, I know that the premium WILL go up as my dog ages. It’s inevitable, just like with humans… I would recommend Healthy Paws to anyone!
