Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

We nearly lost our 2 year old daschund to Persin Poisoning a few weeks ago. Persin is located in the skin of an Avocoado, and like many Southern California families, we have an Avocado tree in our yard.I have never had Pet Insurance for my previous dogs, but thought about it when we bought our Lucy. It was a new experience to file a claim with my Vet. Healthy Paws was WONDERFUL. They kept me informated of the status of processing the claim, and I had reimbursement checks in my hand with a week after filing. This was very much appreciated as I used that money to thave the Avocado removed from our yard. Healthy Paws was fantastic!

A couple years ago, my husband and I decided to get pet insurance for our dogs because, having no kids of our own, our dogs are our family and we want to ensure we are always able to give them the care they deserve. We never want to have to make a decision to put them to sleep because we can't afford care. So, I started doinn research. I admit, I was a bit disheartened at what I saw at first. Most insurance companies won't cover some types of illness or injury that are "typical" of a breed... such as hip dysplasia in large breeds. Having a German Shepherd, this was a let down. Or their definition of a "pre-existing condition" is anything they had before the start of the CURRENT policy.. meaning, from year to year, you have a new policy and anything your dog had the previous year (even while being insured) has now become a pre-exiting condition. This too was frustrating. And then I found Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. What they offer is so good that I found myself reading through the policy multiple times because it seemed too good to be true! First, they cover hip dysplasia if it occurs. Second, after only a $250 they will cover 90% of the cost! And they even let you send in your smaller bills throughout the year and keep track of how much your deductible you have used. So you don't have to have one big expensive vet bill before you can use it. But best of all, for our first claim, we had a check from them in less than a week of submitting the claim! I adopted a 6-month puppy August, 2012. After spending quite a bit of money sugically to fix a pre-existing broken foot condition, I decided to get pet insurance for my little boy. I scrutinized every pet health care plan available and decided upon Healthy Paws due to their overall coverage of medical issues and excellent pricing. My little boy recently needed surgery to remove growths in his mouth. Healthy Paws approved the claim within two days, and I received a reimbursement check exactly one week after his surgery. In addition, Healthy Paws sent follow-up e-mails checking on his condition. This is an exceptional company and I'm so glad I settled on Healthy Paws. I've recommended them to many others.

I did my research and after year decided on Healthy Paws. I have two babies, Bunny & Twinkie, both Shih-tzu's and they are very precious to my husband & I. Bunny got 3 foxtails in her ear and was in terrible pain. Took her to emergency and a follow-up with our own vet the following day and in less than 2 weeks received a reimbursement check from Healthy Paws. They also sent me an email asking if I needed anything else and asked how Bunny was doing. They actually care about their customers pets. I haved already told several people about their service and caring attitude. I hope to not have to file another claim but if I do I know that they will be prompt in their response.

This was the first time I ever acquired pet insurance and am so glad I did. We have had many pets in the past and didn't have insurance for them and it would have been a great benefit in all of their lives. I didn't have any recommendations from anyone so I did a little research and saw favorable comments for Healthy Paws. They go beyond what a typical insurance co does. They are actually really concerned for our pets and customer services is excellent and claims processing is too. I was shocked just how quick the claims were processed! Our precious dog, Rusha, had been pretty healthy for almost 7 years and this disease seemed to come out of nowhere and if it weren't for Healthy Paws, we might have lost him.
