Best all-around pet insurance!

When my wife and I decided to get a puppy, I knew I wanted to get pet insurance after hearing about some of the vet bills for different things my friends' pets had been through. After looking at quotes from VPI, Pets Best, Trupanion, Pet Partners, etc. I decided on Healthy Paws based on their policy coverage, glowing reviews, and very reasonable premium. I have to say I have never had a better insurance experience (including health, life, auto, etc.) than with Healthy Paws! They are extremely responsive, understanding, and don't give you the runaround when processing claims. Highly recommended!

Great service

Healthy Paws has been terrific. I didn't get Healthy Paws insurance until my dog was 11-years old and had already experienced a major medical issue. There weren't many insurance choices when my dog was a pup. At that time the couple of insurances available were expensive and the coverage wasn't very good. When I decided to get insurance for my dog last year, I compared price and coverage. Healthy Paws offered the coverage I needed at the right price. Their customer service has been wonderful. Less than a year after getting the insurance, my dog got colitis. They not only reimbursed me promptly, but called to follow-up on how he was feeling. They encouraged me to return to the vet if I had any concerns about my dog and assured me that any follow-up, including diagnostic tests and medicine in connection with this illness, would be covered. When the time comes to get another dog, Healthy Paws will be his insurance provider from the start. Their coverage is exactly what they say it will be -- no surprises -- and their customer service is terrific.

They are fantastic

We took out an insurance policy with Healthy Paws in October of 2010 as our dog had already had one knee operated on and there is a 50/50 chance he will blow the other knee. In March, we filed our first claim due on a small injury he had. In less than one week, we were reimbursed for xrays and medications. We were amazed how quickly they responded. Then, one week later, our dog has to be taken to the ER due to what was diagnosed as Addison's Disease. Healthy Paws was great. I filed the insurance claim form and faxed it to them. That same day they sent me an email letting me know they had the form and were sorry to hear of his illness. Within one week of our visit to the ER, we were reimbursed for 90% of our expenses, which was not cheap. With this disease, bloodwork and meds will be needed for the rest of his life. These costs range over $200 every 28 days. Each time we go to the Vet's office for his treatments, they file the claim form for us. It is just that easy. By that evening, I usually have an email telling me they are working the claim and within 24 hours I receive an email with the easy to read Explanation of Benefits form showing what was submitted and what will be reimbursed. Then within days, I receive the check in the mail. Healthy Paws has taken the stress out of dealing with our dog's disease. We love our dog and know that we would pay whatever to help him. It is great though to know that Healthy Paws is by our side while we go through this.

Phenominal!!

I have a very large German Shepherd whom has had an interesting first year of life (hes a bit of a clutz). I cannot say enough good things about how amazing Healthy Paws is! My relationship with them thus far can be summed up by this most recent experience. Maverick (my dog), had an incident at a local dog park where he was injured unintentionally. I took him to the ER on Sunday night at around 7pm. I submitted the claim to Healthy Paws at around 7pm the following evening. I got a call from Jen at 7:45...stating that she was about to be leaving for the night but saw the claim and wanted to call and make sure he was ok!! Honestly...I have NEVER heard of a turn around time that quick anywhere..let alone someone genuinely caring that much. Not only did Jen call back within 45 minutes..the claim was approved..and the check was sent out the following morning! So do the math..incident 7pm Sunday night...Check in my hand Tuesday afternoon; trust me when I tell you NOBODY else would ever do that so quickly and with such genunine concern. Please do yourself a favor and get this insurance!!

Wonderful plan with caring people following up.

My puppy cut her leg open at 5:10pm, just 10 minutes after my vet closed! Of course! So off we went to the emergency hospital where we waited to have her stitched up.On the way there I was so upset, worried about how much money this would cost when my husband reminded me that we now have insurance coverage and not to worry. What piece of mind! The moment we went into the examination room and saw the doctor the first thing out of my mouth was - whatever it takes, do it to make her right!!!! Oh did that feel good. When we sent in our claim, not only were we given a follow up phone call to see how our pup was doing, but to explain what was being covered as well. After our vet had sent all the records in to Healthy Paws we were contacted once again by a lovely representative who told us that we didn't submit a claim for some meds that we had gotten for the puppy some months before. Who knew? They read the records and said for us to submit them and we would be receiving a check back for them also... So we did just that. Then another follow up call to check to see how the puppy was doing? Really? My health provider wouldn't think of doing that! Not only am I thrilled to have this coverage but I feel lucky that we picked the right provider!
