Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

After having dogs previously that had put us into credit card debt that took us years to get out of we decided to jump in and try pet insurance when we adopted our next dog. We have no regrets since deciding this and have even signed up our second dog. Each time we file a claim the speed at which it is resolved is incredible and every person we have dealt with has been the utmost professional. We can't be happier and we gladly recommend this company to all of our family and friends for their pets.

My cat was shaking her head and scratching her ear for about two weeks. Antibiotics didn't work, so I took her to a surgeon who informed me that she needed a ventral bulla osteotomy. I scheduled the surgery for the next day, but was worried about how I would pay for it. I contacted Healthy Paws several times that day and while they could not pre-approve the surgery, they were very responsive and told me that it would likely be covered. After the surgery, I submitted the invoice and my cat's medical records, and Healthy Paws quickly processed and approved my claim. I am very happy with how quickly the claim was processed.

I decided to get pet insurance for our new puppy Charlie who was about 8 months at the time (13 months now) and we found out very quickly that we was very active so we decided to be safe in case he hurt himself in the future. I looked around on the Internet and reviewed several insurance companies and decided on Healthy Paws because they covered major injuries and they were affordable. Well wouldn't you know a couple months after getting insurance, Charlie hurt his leg. We took him to the doctor who diagnosed him with medial patella luxation and in order to correct the problem, Charlie would need surgery. We submitted our first claim for the consultation which includes x-rays and anesthesia (~$300). Since this was our first claim I submitted all of Charlie's records with our invoice. A rep from Healthy Paws called within a couple of hours to go over all the paperwork and then they filed the claim with an adjuster. Within 7 business days the claim was processed and since we had a $250 deductible our deductible cover the expenses covered by Healthy Paws. About a week later Charlie had his surgery. After the surgery I submitted the claim for this invoice (~$1,200) and I was very amazed by how fast the claim was processed. In less than 24 hours after submitting the claim, I received an email stating that the claim was processed and completed and a check would be mailed to me within a couple days. This is the first time I have had pet insurance. I got it since I knew that I would pay anything for my pets if needed and I would rather be safe than loose a ton of money. Healthy paws allows me to pay a low fee every month ($20) to cover any accidents or injuries and they have stood by their word. I wasn't sure what to expect but after my kitten hurt her knee they refunded me exactly what I had signed up for in a very fast manner. I am very happy with their service and I will be adding future pets to this insurance and also recommending my friends.

Our 5 month old baby French Bulldog Henry wasn't keeping any food down and losing weight rapidly. Within one week we racked up $1900 in vet bills between x-rays, blood work, ultrasound etc. To our dismay, it was only a food allergy and a double ear infection, but Healthy Paws asked no questions and within 10 business days we were cut a check for almost $1300!!! (Less our $100 deductible, 3 office visits and a RX food he was given) It gave us such a piece of mind that we would be reimbursed most of the out of pocket costs and that our baby who means the world to us will always have top notch medical care. Not only were they wonderful with the reimbursement process, I had made several phone calls during because this was my first claim and I wanted to make sure everything was received and they had all they needed. The customer service I experienced before, during and even after was the best I have ever seen. If only all companies had the same customer service as Healthy Paws, the world would be a much better place!
